And today we’re hopping in our Nordcloud DeLorean and taking a journey back in time 🚀 Yep, we’re exploring some memorable moments in the history of #cloud. Let’s go. 1. A budding idea 💡 Our first stop is 1999, when computer scientist J.C.R. Licklider had the first vision of a type of cloud, so people could share and access programs and #data anywhere in the world. 2. The pioneering days 💫 Jumping forward to 1999, Salesforce became the first company to offer applications over the internet. Its #CRM paved the way for cloud-based applications we rely on today. 3. The cloud takes flight ☁️ Amazon Web Services (AWS), officially launched in 2006. Originally designed to provide online services for Amazon's retail operations, #AWS grew into a global giant, shaping the landscape of cloud computing. 4. Google throws its hat in the ring 🧢 Google Cloud Platform (GCP), now #GoogleCloud, launched in 2008, offering a suite of cloud computing services that has since expanded to include infrastructure, platform, and software solutions. 5. Competition rises 📈 Microsoft entered the cloud market with #Azure in 2010, supporting development of web and mobile apps, as the mobile industry boomed. 6. #cloudadoption booms 💥 2012 saw a 71% increase over the previous year in cloud adoption, with file sharing and hosted email two of the top services used by early adopters. 7. Cloud today 🌎 Today, over 98% of organisations use the cloud in some way, whether through #SaaS applications or a fully cloud-native network. And this year, the global public cloud services market is expected to total over $670 billion. We’ve come a long way. #nordcloudbytes #cloudtechnology
