Recognized with a CSO50 Award from CSO Online, Qualcomm’s "Worst-to-First" employee phishing performance initiative transformed their 1,000 highest-risk employees into model cyber citizens through enrollment into Hoxhunt's adaptive phishing training program. As an additional benefit, Qualcomm's Rachel Shaw highlights that end users actually like Hoxhunt's phishing training – no more complaints! When are employees the most vigilant towards phishing emails? Most good and bad clicks occur during working hours, when there's the most exposure to malicious emails. We're more likely to recognize and report malicious emails in the morning than afternoon, and twice as likely to click a malicious link after work hours. Paradoxically, despite the relative risk being higher after hours, organizations see up to 10X more phishing clicks during standard working hours in absolute terms. Do you notice a pattern in your awareness to phishing during the day?

Did you know... Business Email Compromise (BEC) is one of the most financially damaging online crimes. A BEC is a form of financially motivated phishing attack where attackers exploit existing relationships between a victim and an entity by posing as a trusted source to request unauthorised transactions. In order to facilitate this scam, BEC attacks can also involve attackers engaging in further fraudulent activities such as invoice manipulation. Email account compromises are sometimes used to execute these attacks. In 2022, the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) received 21,832 BEC complaints with adjusted losses over $2.7 billion. 😱

In our recent webinar, Anthony Davis and Maxime Cartier shared eight tips for keeping security awareness top of mind all year round, not just in October. Our third tip by Maxime discusses the advantages of microlearning in security training. He highlights that short, one-minute sessions are less disruptive and more seamless, serving as effective reminders to keep security awareness top of mind without the need for lengthy training sessions. He also highlights Hoxhunt data that illustrates the impact of frequent microlearning versus quarterly training on both learning outcomes and learner satisfaction. Then, as Rachel Shaw, Sr. Cybersecurity Manager said, "It was a no-brainer from there. You see the worst going to the best. It was easy to bring this out to our whole company. And those results have been pretty astounding to be honest with you." This is one of the most inspirational tales of human risk reduction ever told. You can patch human behavior!
