EW's editorial guidelines Published on February 24, 2024 08:38PM EST Who knew the SAG Awards were BYOB? Barbie star Rhea Perlman and Abbott Elementary star Lisa Ann Walter came prepared to the annual awards show, sharing a funny moment — and a flask — during the opening monologue. The SAG Awards don’t traditionally have a host, but Idris Elba kicked things off, reminding the audience that because the show was streaming live on Netflix, there would be no commercial breaks. As a result, attendees had to carefully time their trips to the bar. “For those of you who were smart to bring a flask, remember: sharing is caring,” he added. The camera then cut to Perlman and Walter, as Perlman took a swig from a silver flask and then offered it to Walter. Walter gladly took a sip herself, before turning to her Abbott costar Sheryl Lee Ralph (who declined, mouthing a very Barbara Howard-esque “No, thank you”). Netflix Both Perlman and Walter are SAG nominees this year: Perlman is nominated alongside her Barbie castmates for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Meanwhile, Walter is up for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for Abbott Elementary, after she and her costars won the category last year.
