Overview:
Responsible for assisting with other craft workers in physical labor on jobsites while maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site and supporting the overall project.
Responsibilities:
Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
Complete all required Safety documentation
Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to load, offload, push and pull
Level earth to fine grade specifications using shovel or other hand tool
Mix concrete or grout using portable mixer
Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete using float, trowel or screed
Position, join, align and connect pumps, motors and other mechanical or metal parts
Mop, brush or spread paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection
Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint or stucco through hose to clean, coat or seal surfaces
Apply caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices
Grind, sand or polish surfaces such as concrete and steel, using abrasive tools or machines
Perform tasks involving use of hands and tools such as torqueing/tensioning bolts and studs, assembling metal parts, building bolt cages, vibrating concrete, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, and demolitions, cleanup, use of jackhammers, etc.
Provide assistance on the site as needed
Perform care and maintenance of assigned tools
Perform physical labor on construction sites
May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and six to twelve months of related experience in construction
Or equivalent combination of training and experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units, weight measurement and volume
Ability to understand units of force, pressure and torque and apply appropriate tooling adjustments for each
Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
