*Now is your chance to join a fast growing organization where WHAT YOU DO MATTERS! *AmeriQual Foods, an Evansville, IN based food manufacturing facility, is seeking a Safety Manager.
This position is responsible for oversight of the safety program at AmeriQual, ensuring that all team members are trained and maintaining safe work practices.
*Duties and Responsibilities*
* Conduct JSA’s and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with company and federal safety standards and regulations.
* Work to continuously improve workplace safety by proactively suggestion prevention and or solutions to current or potential safety issues.
* Develop and maintain interdepartmental Safety Committee, encouraging buy-in and team mentality to improve safety culture at AmeriQual.
* Act as safety resource for AmeriQual, assessing first aid need, communicating with Work Comp providers and insurers, and following up with team members in a prompt and professional manner.
* Coordinate, develop, and deliver annual safety training presentations for all team members.
* Perform job specific safety assessments and training, including Fork Truck, Confined Space, First Aid, and CPR/AED on an as needed basis.
* Investigate actual and near miss safety incidents to identify the root cause and determine and implement corrective and preventative actions.
* Maintain all Safety training, monthly Safety plant audits, and SDS records with 100% accuracy.
*Qualifications*
* Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management or related field strongly preferred
* 5+ years in a safety management role in a manufacturing setting
* Excellent working knowledge of industrial safety standards; knowledge of food safety regulations a plus
* Strong leadership skills, with comfort in high stress, urgent situations
* Primarily 1st shift position, but on call availability for off shift emergencies is required.
* OSHA 10/20/30 hour trained.
OSHA instructor status preferred
* Excellent communication and presentation skills and strong organizational skills
* Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work both independently and as part of a team
* Thorough working knowledge of all current OSHA and Safety Standards
*Physical requirements*
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
Position will frequent the production floor, so operating in standard seasonal warehouse and food processing plant temperature conditions will be required.
Work is completed in a facility where nuts, fruits and other allergens are present.
