Five years ago, as the Ethiopian government was formulating its Ten-Year Plan, the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) convened a stakeholder consultation aimed at modernizing the country's financial sector and reestablishing its capital market. As part of this initiative, we were invited to contribute as a stakeholder and presented a comprehensive reform plan encompassing recommendations for the NBE, strategies to open up the financial sector, and policies to establish a robust and sustainable capital market. Today, we are proud to see many of the reforms and recommendations we proposed becoming a reality. Key milestones such as the announcement of the reformed National Bank of Ethiopia under its new proclamation, the introduction of the benchmark interest rate (NBE policy rate), and the strengthening of the capital market are all developments we are thrilled to witness. Remaining steadfast in our vision and values, we are committed to supporting our clients in this changing environment.
