About us
We work to reduce risks to vulnerable populations and to help communities, non-governmental organizations, and local authorities provide services and protection for at-risk groups. For Initiative Africa vulnerable populations are defined as those groups of people who are typically excluded, disadvantaged or marginalized based on their economic, environmental, social, or cultural characteristics, specifically, children, youth and women. Through a variety of programs, IA helps vulnerable populations gain access to opportunities that support their full participation in society. We contribute to the development of capacities of vulnerable populations nationwide and across Africa. In doing so, we help prevent conflict, spur economic growth, and advance human dignity.

Support Education in Tigray: Your Help is Needed! Initiative Africa is working to restore the education ecosystem in the Tigray region, supporting both government and non-governmental efforts to keep schools running smoothly and meet the needs of students. However, we’ve identified an urgent need for more resources to create a comfortable and supportive learning environment. We are currently working with 12 schools in Northwest and Central Tigray supporting close to 500 hundred students where 60 percent of them are girls. While our program only focuses on education support, these schools have asked us for equipment support that will make the teaching -learning process smooth and efficient .We are now calling for donations of desktops, printers, and copiers to equip these schools. If you or your organization can contribute any functional equipment, we’ll arrange pickup from your location and provide detailed information on how your support will directly impact the schools and communities in Tigray. Be part of this meaningful effort to empower young learners—your generosity can make a difference! For more information please call: Nebiyleul Tadesse 0926762474

Training for Teachers on ALP Methodology The educational system in Tigray regional state has been significantly impacted by the conflict and COVID 19, resulting in disrupted learning for elementary and high school students. To address this educational gap, in Tigray Region an Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) has been developed to help students catch up on missed educational milestones. This program requires effective implementation by teachers who are equipped with specialized training and tools. Accordingly, training teachers on the effective implementation of the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) for elementary school students started today at Axum to equip them with the necessary skills, methodologies, and resources to deliver the ALP effectively, ensuring that students can quickly regain their educational footing. #ALP #Tigray #Educationforall #InitiativeAfrica #MalalaFund
