The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute led a session on significant benefits that Artificial Intelligence can add to Manufacturing processes. The institute highlighted the importance of home-developed A.I Research and Development scopes to match that of international standard. The engaging session also showcased different examples of how different A.I solutions developed by the centre is used to increase efficiency in the manufacturing sector, amongst other use cases.

Africa’s agro-industrial potential remains untapped despite its vast arable land and youthful workforce. The CAAPs initiative, led by the AU and supported by key stakeholders Including Afreximbank, UNIDO, AU NEPAD, offers a strategic solution to the food insecurity problem in Africa. CAAPs propose agro-parks-industrial zones equipped with advanced technologies, green energy solutions, and modern infrastructure to strengthen agricultural value chains and economic resilience. This side event organised in partnership with the CAAPs Secretariat (FARA) and the UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) highlighted the role of CAAPs in advancing Africa’s agro-industrialisation agenda, with a focus on mobilising green investments as a cornerstone for sustainable development and structural economic transformation in Africa.

Africa Industrialisation Week 2024: Commodities as a Lever for Africa’s Industrialisation. The African Union - Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry, Minerals (ETTIM) organised a session focusing on leveraging commodities for Africa's industrialisation, as part of the AU's Agenda 2063. The AUC coordinates the implementation of the African Union Commodity Strategy, tracking progress and fostering partnerships for effective resource mobilisation and development. The AU Commodity Strategy itself aims to drive economic transformation through global commodity markets, value addition, and regional value chains.

South Africa's assumption of the G20 presidency from 1 December 2024 to 30 November 2025 marks a historic milestone. African Women in Processing Forum. The AWIP Forum held an experience sharing session with MSMEs earlier today. The purpose of this session is to bring together a diverse group of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to share their experiences, insights, and best practices to navigate specific challenges.

African Women in Processing Forum: The Pan-African Quality Infrastructure coordinated a training which emphasised the importance of an Integrated Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) for Sustainable Africa Green Industrialisation. The workshop also promoted the manufacturing of quality Made in Africa products to increase economic stability in Africa.
