🚀 Understanding TAM vs. CTAM: A critical piece for building your outbound sales team correctly. Working with lots of companies means we get to see lots of different sales functions. When building an outbound sales team, focus on CTAM, not just TAM. 📊 TAM = Total Addressable Market: This is everyone who could potentially buy your product. 📞 CTAM = Contactable Addressable Market: This is everyone who answers their phones, responds to emails, or replies to other messages. Why is CTAM more important? 1️⃣ Reachability: If you build your sales team around TAM, you're aiming at everyone, but not everyone will respond. Your team ends up only reaching about 40% of the TAM. 2️⃣ Sales Targets: When focusing on TAM, your sales team will struggle to meet targets because they can't contact most of the market. This causes stress and frustration. 3️⃣ Costs and Frustrations: When sales teams can't reach their targets, it leads to higher costs. You’re paying for a big team but getting less out of it. This makes your team feel frustrated and can hurt their motivation. To avoid these problems, build your sales strategy around the CTAM: ✅ Effective Outreach: By targeting those who actually respond, your team works more efficiently. ✅ Better Results: Your team is more likely to hit their targets, reducing stress and increasing motivation. ✅ Cost Efficiency: You save money by having a team that works smarter, not harder.
