In the last 6 months, we: 👉 Inaugurated our first commercial plant in Spain 👉 Met with Bill Gates & Robert Habeck  👉 Met with the German Ambassadors to Spain and France  👉 Won two awards (Best Hydrogen Project Spain and Most Promising Startup at Vivatech) 👉 Built up a triple-digit pipeline of potential sites to deploy more modules 👉 Brought in nearly 10 new team members (and counting) Real impact on climate doesn’t come from speeches or announcements but from tangible actions. With the successful inauguration of our first plant in March of this year, we didn’t just build a plant. We created a model for sustainable industry practices that is highly modular. Yes, there are hurdles like permits, securing raw materials, and managing the supply chain. But with our dedicated team and clear vision, these challenges are stepping stones to our goal. According to the IRW (World Resources Institute), by 2030 Spain will rank 22nd on the planet in terms of water scarcity, which means entering the category of extreme water risk. In this context, we had the opportunity to participate in the event organized by Europa Press 'How to boost competitiveness while ensuring a positive environmental impact', in collaboration with Michelin and Madrid Excelente. A meeting in which we were able to discuss a highly topical issue, water as an industrial resource and the need to manage it properly. Xavier Cardoso, our Country Manager Iberia, stated that 'Sustainability and competitiveness go hand in hand, because saving water is an investment with a clear economic and social return'. Just started the Esade "Management in times of uncertainty" course, tailored for Repsol leaders, in Madrid Campus - #ESADE Business School. The first two days in Madrid were dedicated to Geopolitics and Strategy. On October 21st, Aránzazu Narbona, PhD addressed the "New geopolitical environment and trends in the energy sector". On October 22nd, Alberto Alonso Poza covered the "Strategy and Strategic Planning Scenarios". The Strategy at #Repsol business was shared by Antonio de la Torre Díaz. In an excellent group of Repsol leaders, colleagues and friends, coming from all sites and refineries as the headquarters, it was possible to share points of view and to address different approaches for the coming times of uncertainty in the petrochemical and refining business, energy sector in general, taking into account that the world is moving fast and only the ones that are prepared and ready to transform as to implement strategic changes will be well positioned to overcome the business and market barriers that Europe is facing. This is not possible without the energy, know-how and experience of the course lecturers as the Esade campus Madrid amenities. Both Aránzazu Narbona, PhD and Alberto Alonso Poza were outstanding and their energy and expertise allowed the group to deeply discuss and to have open conversations on how we see Repsol in the future. Spain’s chemicals sector is set for robust growth, with 2024 sales expected to increase by 4.8% to €86.5 billion and output rising by 7.1%, as Feique reports. Though demand is strong, the sector grapples with high energy costs, prompting Feique to advocate for substantial state support, including a decarbonization fund to support energy-intensive industries. Despite Spain’s economic recovery and an ambitious Green Deal agenda, the EU’s fluctuating regulatory timelines pose challenges for sustained growth and decarbonization, especially for the chemicals industry. How can Spain’s chemicals sector achieve both growth and decarbonization under shifting EU policies? “bp takes FID on #greenhydrogen project at Castellón refinery in Spain” HTW Editorial Team - July 31, 2024 ““At Castellón, together with our joint venture partner, we are taking our first FID to develop and produce industrial scale green hydrogen at our Castellón #refinery ,” bp said yesterday in its presentation of results for the second quarter of 2024. The project, to be developed in phases, could see the development of up to 2 GW of #electrolysis capacity by 2030.” “The plans for the #greenhydrogencluster of the Valencia region (HyVal) at bp’s Castellón refinery were launched in February 2023. Led by bp, this public-private collaborative initiative is expected to play an instrumental role in #decarbonizing the operations of the Castellón refinery. Its transformation – including green hydrogen, #biofuels and #renewableenergy – could see bp invest a total of up to €2 billion in Castellón by 2030.” “Green hydrogen will support decarbonization of the refinery’s operations, replacing its current use of #greyhydrogen generated from #naturalgas . Its production of biofuels is expected to increase three-fold, to 650,000 tonnes a year by 2030.
