☀️🌍 Europe's largest solar park ! At the end of March, HANSAINVEST Real Assets GmbH inaugurated Europe's largest photovoltaic power plant. With a current output of 605 MW, Witznitz solar park surpasses the Spanish mega-stations Francisco Pizarro and Núñez de Balboa. Installed in less than 2 years by the developer Move On Energy GmbH, the plant, which is still being expanded, plans to reach 650 MW⚡ by this summer. The company has taken innovative measures to promote biodiversity 🌱 (nesting boxes for birds, shelters for bats, corridors for large animals, vegetation and water points, etc.) on a site heavily impacted by former mining activity. The project is covered by a 15-year power purchase agreement with Shell Energy Europe. ACCIONA Energía has agreed to sell its Spanish hydroelectric portfolio to Elawan Energy, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation, for €287 million. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year, pending foreign direct investment approval. The portfolio, owned by Acciona Saltos de Agua, S.L. (ASA), includes 23 hydroelectric plants with a combined capacity of 175MW. These plants are located in Aragón, Cantabria, and Cataluña and have an average remaining concession life of 23 years. This sale will result in a capital gain of approximately €170 million for ACCIONA Energía. The hydro portfolio, which accounts for 20% of ACCIONA Energía’s hydro capacity, produces about 500GWh annually. It comprises both reservoir (77%) and run-of-river (23%) plants, varying from small to medium-scale hydropower assets. Q ENERGY Breaks Ground on 52 MWp Solar Farm in Spain’s Extremadura Region Q ENERGY has announced the commencement of construction for its 52 MWp solar farm, named “Cabrovales 1,” located in the Extremadura region of Spain. This new photovoltaic (PV) power plant, set to become operational by 2025, will feature over 96,000 solar modules equipped with a tracker system to maximize solar exposure. 📈 Renewables now lead electricity generation in Spain! ☀️ Last October, #solar photovoltaic generation in Spain exceeded that produced in the whole of last year, according to data from Red Eléctrica. Renewable technology reached 37,551 GWh, experiencing an increase of 19% compared to the same period in 2023. This means that 57.5% of the energy in our country between January and 5 October came from renewable energies. 👏 We welcome this news with enthusiasm and continue to work towards a fast and efficient #energy transition. ⚡ Latest acquisition puts Sonnedix on track to exceed 1GW of operational capacity in Spain in 2024 We have closed the acquisition of a 42MW ground mounted solar PV plant located in the village of El Carpio de Tajo, in the province of Toledo and community of Castile-La Mancha. ☀️ The project is set to generate 89GWh of clean electricity during its first year of operation. 🏡 That’s enough to power more than 26,000 households, avoiding the emission of over 32,000 metric tons of CO2 per year! 🎯 This acquisition marks a substantial milestone for Sonnedix’s continued expansion in Spain, as it puts us on track to surpass 1GW of operational capacity in the country this year. According to Rosell Guerra, Director of Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), the country plans to boost its electricity generation capacity by over 2,000 megawatts with the completion of two large photovoltaic solar park projects. This increase represents a sevenfold expansion from the current capacity of 286 megawatts as of the end of July. The initiative will also incorporate technologies enabling the use of solar energy beyond daylight hours, including the addition of 200 MW of energy storage capacity through battery banks. This is a substantial rise from the current 10 megawatts of storage. The program aims to reduce the annual consumption of approximately 900,000 tons of fuel and achieve 24% renewable energy participation by 2030. NextEnergy Capital to acquire 248MW Spanish solar portfolio - NextPower V ESG has entered a binding agreement to acquire a 248MW portfolio of 12 solar PV projects in North-Eastern Spain. - This investment marks the fourth for the Fund following a recent long-term debt financing closure for an operational portfolio in the same region. - NPV ESG recently acquired a 100MW solar project in the USA and two operational CfD portfolios of 50MW and 66MW in Europe. - The Fund's portfolio has expanded to 348MW in construction and 116MW in operations, with over 500MW in exclusivity or advanced negotiation. - Since launching, NPV ESG has reviewed over 88GW of pipeline opportunities, identifying 18GW of attractive investments for further evaluation. - NPV ESG has secured $745 million in total commitments from various investors and aims to raise $1.5 billion. - The team is optimistic about investment opportunities due to lower solar photovoltaic module costs and higher power prices. - NPV ESG's first operational assets are expected to pay dividends in the second half of 2024. - The Fund has a disciplined revenue model with strong credit-worthy counterparties to ensure long-term stable cashflow generation. - Classified as an Article 9 Fund under the EU SFDR, NPV ESG aims to deliver measurable impacts including biodiversity measures. - Once reaching its investment ceiling and achieving approximately 4-5GW, NPV ESG is projected to provide clean energy for up to 1.1 million households and avoid nearly 220 million m³ of natural gas consumption annually. - The investment strategy focuses on the solar+ infrastructure sector in carefully selected OECD markets, aiming to build substantial portfolios and divest before 2033. - Aldo Beolchini highlighted the Fund's capacity to deploy capital efficiently, adding over 360MW in just twelve weeks. - Antonio Salvati expressed excitement about the acquisition and the potential for further investments in Iberia through their Madrid office. https://lnkd.in/g5YT8X5w
