Regulating AI in Education (Europe) An interesting read from Europe - "... Ai-enabled technologies have the potential to support diverse learners ... [and] poor pedagogic practices may be automated ... constitutes an education challenge to rethink teaching and learning using AI tools." Let's not just use AI to do what we've always done, good and bad, bigger and faster.

This report by Mckinsey sheds light on the future of work and education in the era of AI. Educators, take note: the nature of work is evolving rapidly, emphasizing the need for social and emotional learning, alongside critical thinking skills. According to the report, the demand for social and emotional skills is projected to increase significantly, with a rise of 11% in Europe and 14% in the United States. These skills are becoming increasingly vital in roles requiring interpersonal empathy and leadership qualities, particularly in healthcare and managerial positions. As educational leaders, it's crucial to address the implications of AI on our students' preparation for the future. Let's equip them with the necessary skills to thrive in an economy that values adaptability and flexibility. #AI #Education Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/g6wVJg6v

If higher education institutions do not change their current approach, they risk becoming increasingly irrelevant and failing to meet the needs of both students and the job market. According to a report by the World Economic Forum, the skills gap is widening, and traditional education models are not adequately preparing students for the future workforce, which increasingly demands digital literacy, critical thinking, and adaptability. Without significant changes, universities may face declining enrollment as students and employers seek alternative education and training pathways that offer more flexibility, practical skills, and alignment with industry demands. The financial sustainability of many institutions is at risk, as rising tuition costs and student debt burdens make higher education less accessible and attractive. Let's not have this happen--- the failure to adapt could result in a workforce ill-equipped for the challenges of a rapidly changing global economy, exacerbating social inequalities and economic disparities. #timeforchange #highereducation #ifnotnowwhen https://lnkd.in/gmCcup2j

Is #edtech too narrow of a term? It seems like #learning is actually happening horizontally across all industries and sectors and across all ages. And while #education may be a vertical, every school & university that I know also does #health including nutrition, mental health, and physical health. That why I'm so excited to see Reach Capital's "renewed thesis" to "elevate human potential and ignite purpose." It is really a continuation of what they have already been doing for the last several years (I am a co-investor in 💛 Clayful), but an important reframe that goes beyond just "education technology" toward a fundamental WHY. Cheers 🥂 to the Reach founding partners Jennifer, Esteban, Wayee, and Shauntel, and their incredible team! Ultimately we are transforming complex and interconnected systems in hopes that all people can thrive! #Longlive #Edtech #VC! cc: Tony Wan Jomayra Herrera Steve Kupfer James Kim Jim Lobdell Enzo Cavalie Maria Soto-Torres Alex Sarlin Edtech Insiders https://lnkd.in/grCwt2ZA

🌐 The brand new World Economic Forum report on the role of #AI in Education 4.0 deserves a calm and thorough read. Without giving away too much, this part literally left me speechless: 📚 UNESCO projects that an additional 44 million teachers will be needed by 2030 to fulfill the ambitious targets set forth by SDG 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. 44 million more teachers! 📝 Just under the population of Spain 🐂 💡 It's necessary for the international community to intervene with public funding policies, not only for school structures, but also for the preparation of workers who will teach how to use AI for peaceful, growth-oriented, and developmental purposes within those structures. 🧠 There is nothing in the world that requires as much human intelligence as artificial intelligence. 👩🏫 We need a population of teachers motivated to make Education 4.0 the greatest literacy project in human history. 💼 Therefore, resources are needed to transform a traditionally stagnant and poorly paid profession into a strategic figure for the future. Combining AI and Value Education: The Future of Learning is Here 🌟 Imagine a world where AI isn't just about algorithms and data but also about building character and empathy. That’s the potential we’re seeing with AI in education today. Here’s how AI and value education can revolutionize schools: Personalized Ethical Learning ↳ AI can create customized learning experiences that include ethical dilemmas and cultural sensitivity training. Why it matters: Tailored scenarios help students learn empathy, respect, and ethical decision-making, all in a context that feels personal and relevant. AI as a Values Role Model ↳ By programming AI to exhibit behaviors like fairness, honesty, and respect, students can observe and learn these values firsthand. Why it matters: Seeing these behaviors modeled consistently helps reinforce positive values in a practical, engaging way. Critical Thinking and Ethical Awareness ↳ AI can be used to teach students about bias and ethics, encouraging them to think critically about the technology they use every day. Why it matters: Understanding AI bias and engaging in ethical debates prepares students for responsible citizenship in a digital world. AI-Powered Value Education Tools ↳ Tools like emotion recognition software and gamified platforms can support value education, making it interactive and fun. Why it matters: These tools foster a supportive learning environment and encourage positive behavior in a way that’s engaging for students. Global and Lifelong Learning ↳ AI can connect classrooms around the world, promoting global citizenship and cultural understanding. It also supports continuous learning beyond school. Why it matters: Learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. AI ensures that value education is a lifelong journey. AI and value education are reshaping the future of learning, creating not just smart students but compassionate and ethical leaders. 🌍 And we’re just getting started.

Ever heard of a #Thunk? As part of keeping pace with educational innovation, we’re discovering a new language for the Fourth Education Revolution. When students are engaged in critical thinking, there must be an active result or outcome. A “thunk” solidifies the creative and analytical work they’ve put into their thinking processes. The Marvelous Minds DARE2TEACH Differently team are pushing this innovative educational language forward, advocating for a classroom where creativity, critical thinking, and real-world application merge. By introducing terms like "thunk," you're not only defining the outcome but also promoting a language that fosters innovation in teaching practices. https://lnkd.in/d2g7i27T

"Committing to a critical and liberating education requires research into what extent the objectives, contents, curricular materials, methodologies didactics and school organization models are respectful of the needs of the different social groups that coexist in each society. It requires investigating whether personal interactions in the classrooms and at the center school, as well as participation models are conditioned by prejudices and false expectations; whether evaluation strategies serve to diagnose problems as soon as possible [...] Likewise, it requires judging the degree to which educational theories that underlie the curricular proposals with which we work are the result of taking into account the voices of “others”, their needs, perspectives and hopes." By integrating microcredentials into your academic offerings, your institution can not only stay ahead of educational trends but also significantly boost its appeal to a broader range of students. These bite-sized, skill-specific courses allow learners to quickly acquire the competencies needed in today's fast-paced job market, making your programs more adaptable to the needs of both traditional students and working professionals. Microcredentials can be stacked toward a full degree or used as standalone qualifications, providing students with multiple pathways to achieve their career goals. This flexibility is particularly attractive to adult learners who may not have the time or resources to commit to a full degree program but are eager to upskill or reskill in a specific area. By offering microcredentials, your institution can tap into this growing market of lifelong learners who are seeking to advance their careers without the long-term commitment of traditional education. Microcredentials can help your institution forge stronger partnerships with industry. By collaborating with employers to design programs that meet current market demands, you can ensure that your graduates are equipped with the skills that are in highest demand. This not only enhances the employability of your students but also strengthens your institution's reputation as a leader in innovative, career-focused education. Incorporating microcredentials into your programs is more than just a trend—it's a strategic move that can differentiate your institution in a competitive market, attract a more diverse student body, and ultimately lead to higher enrollment and student satisfaction. Is your institution ready to embrace this opportunity and enhance its offerings with microcredentials? #microcredentials #highereducation #educationforall https://lnkd.in/gu6jm8Sy

🇬🇧 How can AI revolutionize education? This was the central question I addressed at the Region 9 Annual Conference of the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) in Milan this past week 🌍 ❓Now, why AI matters for business schools? Well, business schools are responsible for training the next generation of leaders. Yet, these leaders must be equipped not only with traditional business acumen but with instruments that empower them to make data-driven, strategic decisions. Teaching AI to managers and entrepreneurs is no longer optional—it's imperative. But there’s more. 🎓 AI is also the future of how we teach. Imagine tailored learning experiences that adapt to each student’s pace, abilities, and needs. Imagine a system that monitors progress in real-time, identifies obstacles, and provides personalized pathways for students to succeed—whether they are just starting their journey or are experienced professionals. This is the future we can—and must—build. 🏆 Education needs to be inclusive and accessible to everyone, regardless of background or circumstances. By leveraging technology, we can finally provide customized education at scale, ensuring that no student is left behind. Thanks again to Lisa M. Marchese for the invitation and thanks to my fellow Federico Costa, who brought his practical expertise in this speech. And now... Your turn! 💬 What’s your take on integrating AI into education? How do you see business schools adapting to this shift? #AI #Education #EdTech #BusinessSchools #Innovation #PersonalizedLearning #AIInEducation #FutureOfEducation #Leadership #DigitalTransformation
