This is not Zara's first venture into cafes, but it is indeed the first official Zacaffè. I see this as a strategic shift towards offering lifestyle-focused experiences, a path paved by luxury brands in recent years. Luxury has long understood that consumer experience is king, and integrating gastronomy into flagship spaces has been a game-changer and it's a well established strategy. Some recent examples: 👜 Louis Vuitton: Their temporary NYC store on East 57th Street includes the brand’s first U.S. café. Btw: This flagship store is impressive. 🏛️ Dior: At 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, the boutique transforms into a multi-sensory experience with a museum, a café, and the gastronomic "Monsieur Dior" restaurant. 🍰 GENTLE MONSTER: Sitting in the premium segment, their Seoul flagship includes "NUDAKE," a stunning café and pâtisserie that creates an artistic experience, blending eyewear retail with their iconic croissant fixtures. When I visited it last spring, we were really impressed. 😍 They have recently opened a "Gym café" in their flagship store in Shanghai. I see certain similarities here with Zara's strategy as Nudake's concept can live also alone and not always integrated in Gentle Monster's environment. The idea of Zacaffè seems to go in the same direction. What makes the #Zacaffè more significant is its placement inside the newly launched Zara MAN, the first global independent store for men’s fashion under the brand. Spanning 700 square meters, this space reflects Zara’s commitment to elevating its retail offering: 🛍️ Integrated Customer Service Spaces: Streamlined areas for returns and purchases, making the experience smoother for everyone. 🚫🔒  No More Rigid Security Tags: Elevating the presentation and adding a sense of luxury to the shopping experience. ☕️ And the Café Experience: Inviting customers to linger, relax, and connect with the brand beyond just shopping. In my opinion, Zara wants to position itself closer to premium experiences and further from the traditional fast fashion narrative. It mirrors how brands like Louis Vuitton and Dior use lifestyle offerings to deepen emotional connections with customers, making each visit an event rather than a transaction. With luxury brands experiencing a slowdown this year and Bain & Company forecasting much lower trend compared to the rapid recovery years post-pandemic, it's clear that the pressure is on luxury brands to redefine how they engage their customer to differentiate. 📣 What do you think? Apple is set to open a new official Apple Store in Spain on 28 November at the La Vaguada shopping centre in Madrid. That will make in 12 in Spain and 117 in Europe. Apple Store openings are far in between in Spain - as it has been over 10 years since the last one was opened. But there has been a gradual expansion in several markets over the last years, including new openings at the Westfield Mall of Scandinavia outside Stockholm in Sweden as well as in Battersea, London, right next Apple's London main office. Food for though: Should the main purpose of brand stores be to serve as the end of a logistics chain, or instead work as a physical marketing and touch points for consumers can interact with the brand and product support specialists? Some markets have had quite a strong uptake in direct channel smartphone sales in the last years, but I think a big part of the direct sales growth connects to vendors offering financed payment terms and strong promotions through their own channels. Let's not forget that there are many premium Apple resellers around Europe that work in every single country to also expand the presence of the brand. Although these are a little more dependent upon serving as the end of the logistics chain though, for revenue and business purposes.

Spain’s Footwear Market Trends: A Glimpse into the Future The Spanish footwear market has been witnessing some intriguing trends that are shaping its future landscape. Here’s a snapshot of what’s on the horizon: 1. E-commerce Growth: The e-commerce sector in Spain’s fashion industry is booming, with annual revenues reaching a staggering $6.5 billion. The growth curve is steady and on an upward trajectory, indicating a promising future. Online fashion sales have skyrocketed from €444 million in 2012 to over €6 billion in 2021, with e-commerce accounting for more than 21% of all fashion sales in Spain, up from 9.5% pre-COVID-19. 2. Footwear Subsector Expansion: The footwear subsector is expected to lead the pack in terms of value, reaching 19.51 million users by 2028. Online shoe sales now account for over a quarter (27.8%) of the total sales in this niche as of 2022. 3. Export Surge: From January to November 2022, Spain’s footwear exports reached €2.83 billion, marking a 22.2% increase compared to the same period in 2021 and an 11% increase from pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Export volumes reached 148 million pairs of shoes, with estimates suggesting that the total for 2022 will be around 150 million pairs, a 6% increase from 2021. 4. Import Dynamics: In the first nine months of 2022, Spain’s footwear imports hit €324.9 million, surpassing the €283 million of the same period last year. Amid inflation, the average price per pair of imported shoes has risen by 27% compared to 2019. China accounts for 62.5% of the total import volume. 5. Consumer Trends: Since April, the Consumer Price Index has shown a downward trend, and consumer confidence is gradually recovering. However, footwear consumption prices have not shown a decline, and importantly, footwear imports seem to be decreasing, suggesting a further deterioration in Spanish footwear demand by the end of the year. 6. Retail Outlook: The high inflation following the war in Ukraine has posed a severe constraint on fashion retail, with consumers diverting their disposable income to non-discretionary spending like food and energy. However, a significant improvement in the Textile, Clothing, and Footwear Retail Index in Spain from December 2022 to April this year indicates that consumption has not been significantly affected. Yet, in the following months, the Clothing and Footwear Retail Index began to decline, with the rise in footwear prices exerting pressure on the retail outlook. I remember my experience in the past with formats as QVC. While those were pioneering at that time, Live Shopping represents the next evolution, blending real-time interaction with a more immersive and dynamic experience that connects deeper with today's digital native consumers. Here are some of our key reflections: 🔹 Zara’s Pioneering Step: With Zara expanding its Live Shopping broadcasts beyond China to Europe, this is a game-changer for Western markets. Early success in China, where Zara attracted over 800,000 viewers per show, sets the stage for broader adoption across Europe and the US. We could discuss if the format used with Cindy Crawford and Kaia Geber was not the classic Live Shopping format but certainly marks a new step forward in engaging audiences through live and interactive content. 🔹 Opportunities Beyond Fashion: Outside of fashion and beauty, sectors such as home goods and tech are gaining traction, leveraging Live Shopping to offer engaging, shoppable content. In the beauty industry, we’re seeing rapid adoption of live tutorials, with brands like Ulta Beauty and La Roche-Posay Laboratoire Dermatologique launching exclusive skincare sessions. However, the most effective formats tend to be dynamic and brief—highlighting skincare routines, product innovations, and sustainable ingredients rather than lengthy tutorials. 🔹 The Power of Entertainment: The success of Live Shopping lies in blending content with commerce. As consumers, we are drawn to interactive, personalized experiences. In the next few years, we expect brands to further innovate, turning product launches and collections into live, social events. 🔹 A Global Growth Trend: Live Shopping has seen unprecedented growth in Asia, but Western markets are catching up. In the US, forecasts predict the market could reach $35 billion by 2024. Globally, Live Commerce could represent 10-20% of all e-commerce sales in the coming years, and reports are showing that not only boost sales per se but also increased Average Order Value (AOV) with a 42% sales conversion rate. Even reducing return rates that are the nightmare of any e-commerce business in terms of operations and profitability. Today, October 6th marks exactly five months since I joined Inditex(Massimo Dutti) as a Sales Assistant. This milestone inspires me to keep working harder and to reflect on the journey that brought me here. After finishing the first semester of my master’s program, I was determined to find a part-time job. I applied to several positions and finally landed an interview with M&S Food. I thought this role would be a great opportunity to learn about the brand, its operations, in-store marketing, and supply chain management. I arrived two hours early for the interview, excited to observe how the store could improve customer experience. The interview went well, but I soon discovered the role involved less about branding and more about early shifts moving delivery boxes. Despite the disappointment, I stayed hopeful, but when the rejection email came, I was crushed. Instead of staying idle, I took action—walking into every restaurant in Kingston with my CV in hand. That night, I found a part-time job as a scullery assistant. It was tough, with 10-hour weekend shifts, but I stuck it out. After 1.5 months, I was thrilled when my manager suggested training me for the shop floor. Around the same time, I applied to the Inditex Talent Centre for a Sales Assistant position. On the day of the interview, I took a deep breath and visualized myself as a tiger—ready to fight for my place. Despite feeling a bit intimidated by the stylish candidates around me, I confidently answered the question about what makes Inditex brands stand out: their efficient supply chain and just-in-time production strategy. A few hours later, I received an email confirming my success, and soon I joined Massimo Dutti at their Oxford Street store in London. Recently, I requested a transfer to Kingston to accommodate my second semester at the university. Engaging content on these platforms can quickly go viral, amplifying brand visibility and engagement. They care deeply about social and environmental issues. Brands that demonstrate genuine commitment to sustainability, diversity, and social justice can build strong, loyal relationships with this demographic. Influencers play a pivotal role in shaping Gen Z’s opinions and purchasing decisions. Collaborating with influencers who resonate with your brand’s values can lead to authentic and impactful marketing campaigns. During my time working with those brands, our focus was on analyzing and enhancing their existing marketing strategies, particularly to engage the Gen Z demographic. We conducted comprehensive research to understand the preferences, behaviors, and values. This included surveys, focus groups, and social media analysis to gather real-time insights. By identifying gaps and opportunities in the current strategies, we proposed enhancements that would resonate more with Gen Z. This included optimizing social media content, creating interactive campaigns, and leveraging user-generated content. Our team brainstormed and presented new, innovative ideas for future campaigns. From gamified experiences to virtual reality try-ons, we pushed the boundaries to create memorable and engaging marketing initiatives. Congratulations to all my colleagues for such a fantastic year!. 🤩🤩🤩 ➡ El Corte Inglés reached 16,333 million euros in global revenue in the 2023-24 financial year, 5.4% more than the previous year. EBITDA amounted to €1,081 million thanks to the positive evolution of the business, with an improvement in profitability. ➡ The company achieved the best ordinary results since 2009 with growth in the main areas of activity. This positive evolution has been possible thanks to our own business model aimed at achieving customer satisfaction with a complete and diversified commercial proposal. Travel and Insurance achieve the best year in its history 🔝🔝🔝 ➡ During the 2023 financial year, the volume of investment has increased for both technology and product, developing new services and renovation of 25 El Corte Inglés establishments. For the first time in its history, El Corte Inglés has received an Investment Grade rating from the rating agencies Standard & Poor's and Fitch Ratings.
