Yurko Andrea Biancini EIT Digital My last article for International Society of Service Innovation Professionals (ISSIP) CRACKING THE CODE ON DIGITAL TALENT Businesses worldwide are facing a new set of challenges, attending the rapid development of digital technology, from coping with accelerating technology development, environments of heightened competition, new market identification, restructured work processes and modes, and new stakeholder demands. Failure to adapt to these changes poses an existential threat to existing organizations. Firms embracing and developing digital transformation will gain competitive advantage in the new business environment. To successfully transform in the digital era, organizations must be agile, innovative, and adaptable. Digital transformation of industry is no longer optional, but essential for businesses if they are to remain competitive. According to a European investment Bank (EIB) study, digitalization is associated with better business performance, across metrics of productivity, management practices, innovation, growth and provision of higher-paying jobs. Digital transformation is often credited with reducing costs – due to a better use of technology or process improvement – but its benefits are certainly not confined to cost reduction. Digital transformation also involves a process of creating new business models that adapt to a digital environment. In fact, we should also recognize that a company’s digital approach can have a huge impact on the nature of the job, the different types of jobs, or the way people are managed. It was great to contribute to this work with Pascal Le Masson and Jianxi Luo ✨ The Editorial Article The role of big data as a catalyst for the knowledge-based economy is widely recognized, serving as a backbone for powering algorithms. However, prior work has predominantly focused on the supply side of having the 'right' datasets or considering data as a 'ready-to-use' asset. This approach has resulted in a limited perspective on how to enable value creation from data. Thinking of Future Machines and Policy! The M/Cs will be able to learn skills with #EDGE intelligence powered by #6G. #SemanticInteroperability will enable machines not only #Data Exchange but also conclude the Meaning of Data communication with #generative models. It is like #Robotics but more than Robotics. Next Generation #AI will be better understanding of #neural computation of humans and animals. #Neuromorphic architecture will use #SPIKE (like a wave) as input/output rather than #BINARY. It will entail massively parallel processing rather than sequential steps. Infrastructure based sensing, embedded radio sensing and #integrated AI communication will be the backbone of machines. The disruptive networking systems like #Huawei visioned AI nourished and #GPT model basesd #A-core will sweep away the entire existing designs. However, practice shows that IQ can be shortened or subtracted, too 🙈🤷‍♂️😁

🚨 New OA publication 📢 In this conceptual contribution w/ Patrick Donges and Christian Pentzold in IJoC, we propose a communicative framework for the analysis of persistent distinctions between center and periphery in the digital public sphere. 🔎 We argue that in the digital public sphere, four distinct modes of recognition emerge: attention, resonance, allegiance, and engagement. These modes of recognition can carry positive or negative valence. ⚡ The four modes induce persistent yet contingent center-periphery distinctions among actors, issues, and even entire arenas. Some strive for a position of centrality, while others exhibit a purposive orientation toward peripheries rather than centers. They graciously included me on the team. It's my first experience working on a problematization review, and I learned a lot. It's a good piece of work! Title: Mobilising new frontiers in digital transformation research: A problematization review. Abstract: In this paper, we mobilise new frontiers in digital transformation (DT) research by deconstructing the literature's underlying assumptions and analysing their correspondence with current theory. To do so, we conduct a problematization review across the fields of IS, strategy and entrepreneurship, organisation theory and management studies, to capture the multidimensionality of DT research. Unlike systematic literature reviews commonly found in DT research, a problematization review critically questions how theoretical contributions have been constructed in past research to develop novel theoretical questions. Our findings offer three contributions. First, we uncover five research trajectories, each with its own in-house assumptions about the nature of digital technologies and how organisations, groups and individuals interact with those technologies and the data they generate. Second, we show how individual studies within the identified research trajectories position themselves against prior research, pointing at six distinct processes of constructing theoretical contributions. Finally, we mobilise new frontiers of research by questioning DT research field assumptions that cut across the five research trajectories. We conclude by discussing the theoretical implications of our problematization review for further DT research.
