How to reach different people with the same content Creating a blog post for your site from the transcript from your guest appearance gives it another ‘home’ on your website. People who often appear as guests usually have a speaker page with links to their appearances, which is great, but those pages will only appeal to visitors who are looking specifically for video or audio content. 🗣️ Some of your readers will prefer text (I know I do).  📖 For those readers, having an in depth blog post based on part of the transcript will provide enough incentive to get them to watch or listen to your episode. Why can't I finish what I start? Is it me? Usually the answer is complicated. And the biggest reason behind writers (esp non fiction/expert book writers) not completing their dream project is Overwhelm... It has nothing to do with the writing muscle and a lot to do with how you start writing. If you have more questions on writing do fill in the form below and you will get an answer:) Till then... How about we do another "sneak peek" poem from Wild Gardens, friends, and keep celebrating its publication? 🤸‍♀️ And since it's out now, it makes sense that this week's excerpt comes from none other than the title poem, "Wild Gardens (Ars Poetica)," which was first published in Soul-Lit. This poem came into being during an ars poetica workshop with poet Vievee Francis during the 2021 virtual Muse & The Marketplace conference. (If you're not familiar with the ars poetica, it's a form of poetry that . . . well, describes the act of writing poetry!) At one point during the workshop, Vievee asked us to share in the chatbox the first metaphor that comes to mind when we think about poetry. My answer? A seed. 🌰 (Close enough to a seed, right?) I'd love to share why I thought of a seed. But then, you'd rather read the excerpt from the poem and immerse yourself in the why, right? I do want to say this, though: When we nurture a flower, herb, or vegetable garden (or other gardens, for that matter), the garden isn't the only "being" that's receiving the nurturing. We, the gardeners, do as well. By flourishing and simply existing, the garden nurtures us in return. I have often seen that the process of writing a book helps develop clarity. HOW? The people who come to me for a book already have an idea what they want their book to be about... Some might even be teaching it! But when I start writing down their ideas, chapter by chapter...they finally 'see' it Due to that 'seeing' they have more ideas (thankfully I have a stage in my writing process for doing just that...so it's not an added cost) One of my clients wanted to write a book on his new findings in his niche (NDA applies so I can’t be more specific) ✒When we started working, we developed our structure based on his stories and the books in his niche It was a new and technical niche. By the end of the first draft stage, he had so many more ideas and was excited to reach out to some people he had worked with and include their perspectives too Bummer: it required a complete rewrite! ✔I knew it was necessary because it would help connect the idea more deeply with the readers... So I went back to my laptop and spent some more months interviewing, researching and writing. The book was one part of his plan and the second part was speaking more about his ideas in his niche- the way we wrote it- he got clarity in both! 💡Writing a book starts with an idea, but a well-written book finds a way to connect the idea more deeply with the reader... The problem is-- you can’t do the second step before doing the first... ✔First, write down your idea! "𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱." I came across this comment on one of Alice Lemee's valuable posts, and I found myself nodding in agreement. Yes, let’s talk about it. The comment was in response to Alice sharing how a potential client ghosted her. I've been there many times, unfortunately. I’d spend valuable hours writing proposals, talking with clients via Zoom, answering emails, sending follow-ups—then, nothing. Crickets. I’d send a couple of follow-ups, and still, silence. 𝗔𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝗜 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. "𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴?" But then I realized this happens to many writers, entrepreneurs, and solopreneurs. 𝗚𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀, 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. But why? Why can’t potential clients send a simple email saying, "We’ll pass"? Artificial Intelligence: Good or Harmful To The Writing Industry? Pt. 2 This is my beautiful mummy. Today is her birthday. Happy birthday mummy stunner. I love you. Now we continue.... It is good that people are starting to see the harm AI poses. A lot of Job listings for writing gigs will specify that no AI written work will be accepted by the organisation. AI detectors have been created to sniff out the usage of AI because like I said before, there's a similar pattern to them. These bots are not unique, neither do they have personality. So they're easier to detect. Honestly, I believe AI was created with good intentions. But good intentions can be abused when there are zero measures in place to ensure that the intent for creation is fully carried out. It was made to be a tool that helps. That eases burdens, not takes over burdens. It wasn't designed to do everything thereby leaving us with practically nothing to do. As a writer, AI is good for generating writing prompts and outlines especially in subject matters you're not entirely familiar with. If as an art student, I had to write a science based article on a topic I had no clue on, I can use AI to come up with an outline. That way, my research becomes focused and streamlined. I won't google things out confusion and then get overwhelmed because with that outline, I know where to start from. AI can also help suggest content ideas. As creatives we've had moments where our creative juices ran out despite the heaping deadlines. With AI, you can have it suggest content ideas surrounding the subject matter which will help make your content planning easier. My point is, it is one thing to utilise Artificial Intelligence as a way to assist and add to what you already know, and it is another thing to have it replace your brain. Your brain needs to be constantly utilised and engaged. Do not replace it with AI!!! If you lived in a world where you did absolutely nothing, down to getting yourself out of bed and brushing your teeth. If there was a machine that catered to every single thing and all you had to do, was exist, how do you think your life will be? Your honest answers will be appreciated in the comments section.
