Flagger is a progressive delivery tool that automates the release process for applications running on Kubernetes. It reduces the risk of introducing a new software version in production by gradually shifting traffic to the new version while measuring metrics and running conformance tests. Flagger implements several deployment strategies (Canary releases, A/B testing, Blue/Green mirroring) using a service mesh (App Mesh, Istio, Linkerd, Kuma, Open Service Mesh) or an ingress controller (Contour, Gloo, NGINX, Skipper, Traefik, APISIX) for traffic routing. DevOps: Missing piece and why it is essential Why do I need DevOps? This is something I hear quite often because many clients don’t know who is it, why do they need it and where does it fit into their projects. So let me explain. In simple words DevOps is someone combining software and all the rest IT operations to make your product work. Integrated CRM? DevOps. Mail notifications? DevOps. Cloud? Again DevOps. DevOps essentially bridge the gap between, coding, testing, and deployments. Think of it as a backbone of what all the rest of your team - designers, software developers, testers and others are hardly working on. Clients sometimes think of DevOps as purely “infrastructure” guy not realising that it touches every phase of the development lifecycle. DevOps isn’t just about servers or domain or hosting — it’s about optimising the entire workflow ensuring your tech project can scale, stay secure, and run efficiently. And I get it - at first it seems unnecessary and when clients overlook its value, it seems to not have huge impact. But when your product reaches 1,000 users - boom and for some reason you project faces delays, outages and costly downtime. This is an excellent and very well explained article on the new ‘templatestring’ function from #Terraform . I can already see many ways to use this to keep consistency in naming and the method on how you generate them. Currently I am using ‘replace’ or ‘format’ but for newer engineers these can be confusing to trace back.
