The latest report by Catalonia Trade & Investment reveals a dynamic industry ecosystem with: 🏢 260 entities: This includes companies, technology centers, and research institutes all working together. 🖥 4,600 jobs: Highly skilled professionals driving innovation in the field. 💰 €302 million business volume: The network's companies generate significant economic impact. 🏆 Catalonia is also a magnet for foreign investment in semiconductors, ranking 3rd in the EU. Major players like Cisco and Intel Corporation have invested a combined €420 million, creating nearly 1,200 jobs. The launch of the Catalonia Semiconductor and Chip Alliance further solidified this promising future. 📢Excellent news! Yesterday, our colleague Beatriz Benito Sánchez had the honour to present the European project CO-CAPTAIN_EU at the III Congreso Internacional de Comunicación y Salud CICyS, organised by Universidad Complutense de Madrid 👏👏👏 She represented the Foundation for Biosanitary Research and Innovation in Primary Care (FIIBAP) of the Madrid Health Service (SERMAS) in her paper "La Navegación del Paciente para la Prevención del Cáncer en personas con problemas de Salud Mental" (Patient Navigation for Cancer Prevention in people with Mental Health problems). Addressing the risk of cancer mortality among people with mental health problems is critical, and CO-CAPTAIN is at the forefront of addressing this challenge. Through the innovative Patient Navigation approach, our project aims to overcome inequalities in cancer care and facilitate access to primary prevention targeting known risk factors. This will not only reduce the burden and mortality of cancer, but also optimise the use of resources and care pathways in EU healthcare systems. This article is about recent changes in the union strategy of Spanish platform workers. Using a socio-spatial approach to labour processes and disputes, it first describes the context of union organizing: how the business model of delivery platforms has evolved and how it is regulated in Spain. The authors then analyze the first initiatives to organize couriers in Spain and how their newly won employee status has caused them to adopt more conventional forms of union organizing and focus on other spaces. Yesterday began the science 🔬 week, and to celebrate it we want to share this interview 🎙️ from Cadena Ser with Sergio Capitán, Manager of our center. Interviewed by Jorge Méndez, Sergio was able to explain the more than 20 R&D&I projects that we are currently developing 👨‍🔬👩‍🔬, the scientific advances achieved to date or even the importance of the #QCIRCLE project co-financed by the European Research Executive Agency (REA)   for the creation of a center of technological excellence. 💬Sergio Capitán: “The results show that it has been a wise decision of the ARQUIMEA  group to set up a separate research center and also to do it in Tenerife🏝️.” “The CABILDO DE TENERIFE  and the Gobierno de Canarias  have understood from minute 🕛 one the potential of the QCIRCLE project.” “In the Canary Islands things are being done well, important things are being developed and the fruits are coming and more 🔜 will come, because it is the ideal ecosystem to settle. The Digital Catalonia Alliance (DCA) is an initiative that brings together Catalonia's leading emerging technology sectors in an innovative, visionary, disruptive, and collaborative technology alliance. We thought it was fantastic that the annual meeting was held in an igloo, a space that enhances the sense of community among companies, professionals, research centers, and administrations that share the same common denominator: they develop, integrate, implement, or offer IoT-based technological solutions. If we don't build multidisciplinary teams with diverse capabilities, we won't be able to bring technology closer to society or the environment.
