The EU trade mission to #Japan wraps up with a intense #B2B matchmaking event at the Belgian Embassy. Here, 50 #Japanese companies engage with 15 innovative EU businesses hailing from various sectors including #smartcity, mobility, digital healthcare, #ICT, and green economy. This event serves as a pivotal opportunity for fostering partnerships and exchanging ideas, and showcasing the potential for fruitful collaborations. The core focus of our #trademission revolves around understanding the dynamics of public #procurement in Japan and identifying opportunities for collaboration within the public sector. From the outset, it's apparent that securing a local partner is pivotal for success. Consequently, a substantial portion of our agenda is allocated to engaging in B2B meetings with Japanese firms. These meetings are integral to establishing the necessary partnerships that will facilitate our entry into the Japanese market. This EU trade mission is organized by project GOOSE, under the leadership of Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) local office, together with 3 other project partners Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hrvatska udruga poslodavaca - Croatian Employers` Association and ACCIÓ. This week's news come from #Japan! Companies and business support organizations, Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), Hrvatska udruga poslodavaca - Croatian Employers` Association and ACCIÓ from 4 different EU countries are visiting Tokyo during an EU trade mission organized by EU funded project GOOSE, under the leadership of FIT local office and with the support of Belgian Embassy. The aim of this #trademission is to learn about the cooperation possibilities with public sector and the complex world of public #procurement in Japan. One is quite clear since the beginning - you need a local partner to be successful in this - that is why a big part of this #trademission is dedicated also for B2B meetings and networking with potential Japanese companies. Today we had interesting presentations and discussions with the Delegation of the European Union to Japan, Digital Agency of Government of Japan and Tokyo Metropolitan Government. We heard of some success stories about doing business in Japan from Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (imec), and witnessed the formalization of partnership between Belgian company RideOnTrack and NEC Corporation, a Japanese multinational information technology and electronics corporation. Around 3% of public contracts are awarded to foreign companies, but the public procurement market is huge, with billions of euros expenditure on top focus areas such as sustainable development and decarbonization, transition from nuclear power to #renewable energy; education and IT skills, #digitalization in healthcare and aging society; digital transformation and revitalization of local economy. Thank you, organizers, and the project team, Vincent Goossens, Dirk De Ruyver, Johan Malin, Marko Jurcic, Oriol Martínez Alòs-Moner, and participating companies!

Today marks the final day of the EU #trademission to #Vietnam, Hanoi, where companies and business support organizations (ACCIÓ, Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), Hrvatska udruga poslodavaca - Croatian Employers` Association) from 4 EU countries Belgium, Estonia, Spain and Croatia, were visiting Vietnam, to discover business opportunities, both with private and public sector, under the EU-funded project GOOSE. We had very insightful meetings with leading Vietnamese companies like FPT Software, FPT Information System, Vietnam Electricity, Vietnam Oil & Gas Group, and entities like Asian Development Bank and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH representatives. Thank you all for your warm welcome! And special thanks to the whole team of Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) office in Vietnam, Eve Devoldere and Jef Daeninck, for organizing a very exciting, insightful and activity packed program! EU trade mission to #Vietnam has kicked off: companies and business support organizations (ACCIÓ, Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), Hrvatska udruga poslodavaca - Croatian Employers` Association ) from 4 EU countries, including Belgium, Estonia, Spain and Croatia, are visiting Vietnam, to discover business opportunities, both with private and public sector, under the EU-funded project GOOSE. Under the leadership of Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) office and their local team in Hanoi, an exciting 3-days program full of B2B meetings, networking opportunities, seminars, company visits and meetings with ministries and local authorities has been organized to make new connections and learn about this promising and emerging market. There are opportunities for EU companies in sectors prioritized by the government, e.g. agtech, electric vehicles, healthcare, urban development, energy and green transition – in a country that is one of the world’s five most vulnerable countries to climate change. „The purpose of this mission is specifically to demonstrate to companies the opportunities of #publicprocurement in free trade agreements. This mission is an excellent opportunity to exchange best practices within the focus sectors. No less than 39% of Vietnam's GDP consists of public procurement“, Eve Devoldere, trade and investment counselor of FIT said. After a first two days here are some of the key takeaways: 💡EVFTA (free trade agreement with EU) brings great opportunities. 💡Vietnam legal and business environment is quite complicated and it requires patience and presence in the country. 💡Investing and trading for SMEs might be more complicated than for large companies. 💡Partnering with a trusted local entity/individual is key for succeeding. 💡In the last two years, the administrative procedures have become more burdensome as a consequence of the anti-corruption campaign. Great contributions and presentations from many great speakers and guests. And also wonderful opportunity to network with Vietnam Software & IT Services Association (VINASA) members. Wishing all the success for the participating companies in conquering Vietnamese market!

Join our trade mission to #Japan, with focus on public #procurements! Public tenders in Japan are an attractive but too often overlooked opportunity for EU companies. Moreover, as an EU company, public tenders in Japan are more accessible to you due to the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). However, winning such a tender as a foreign company requires thorough preparation. Luckily EU funded project GOOSE, under the leadership of Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) in Japan is happy to support you in finding local partners, overcoming the language barrier, handling your administrative responsibilities and, of course, finding the tenders themselves. That’s why we’re organizing a physical #trademission to Japan within the framework of GOOSE project, together with 4 project partners. We will put you in touch with local companies and institutions which are vital partners for winning these tenders. FIT’s local office in Tokyo will also be available both during and after the mission so you will be able to count on local support. The mission will take place on 16-18th April 2024. 📢 Apply for the trade mission by 31st January 2024. Companies from all target sectors of GOOSE (#smarthealth, #smartcity, #greeneconomy, #ICT), are welcome to apply. Please contact your local partner for more information and registration.
