Great turnout for the Preston Partnership event. We are delighted to support innovation and sustainability in Preston 🌍
Routes to Sustainability: Inspiring Change in Preston 🌍✨ This morning, we gathered for the final session of the 2024 #InTheCity series to explore the dynamic topic of sustainability—social, environmental, and economic. The session kicked off with an insightful introduction from Preston Partnership chair, John Chesworth, followed by Chris Blackburn, head of city centre regeneration at Preston City Council, who shared a compelling overview of Preston’s past and a vision for its future. He highlighted active travel and sustainable projects in the pipeline, all aimed at shaping a greener, more connected road ahead for our city.🚶♂️🚲 Our expert panel then dove into the topic, offering diverse perspectives on key issues, including: ❓ Defining sustainability 🏠 The possibilities of Passivehaus design 🤝 The ‘Preston Model’ and small-city connectedness 🕓 The four-day work week 🔨 Sustainable retrofitting and its potential in Preston 📊 Measuring the tangible impacts of sustainability efforts A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding panelists: Deborah Smith, Dan Hyde, James Traynor, Stephen Sykes FRSA, Gemma Cornwall MRICS and Chris Blackburn, and to Alban Cassidy for expertly chairing an insightful conversation. ... And to Ella Orr, Paul Hansen and the team at OneCoWork - Flexible Workspaces for hosting another seamless event, as well as everyone who joined us to engage with this critical topic. We’ll be sharing a full recap and details on next steps on our website in the coming weeks. 🥁And finally - that’s a wrap! Our final event of 2024. Thanks to everyone for making our first full year a successful one and we look forward to sharing our 2025 events calendar soon. #GrowingPrestonTogether
