𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝘀. ⁣⁣ ⁣ InSAR analysis detected up to 1 cm of localized subsidence over reservoirs within 26 months. ⁣ ⁣ This movement resulted from hydraulic fracturing, where horizontal wells and pressure changes, combined with compressive loads, lead to reservoir compaction during extraction 🛢️⁣ ⁣ Here’s why InSAR is crucial for fracking sites:⁣ ⁣⁣ 🔍 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: InSAR identifies subtle shifts, providing operators with data on critical subsurface changes and enabling proactive management.⁣ ⁣ 📉 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Analysis showed subsidence generally increases with gas production, helping operators better predict potential risks, though local conditions may vary.⁣ ⁣ ⚠️ 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀: Continuous monitoring of subsidence supports early identification of potential precursors to induced seismicity, faults, or hydraulic pathway changes, when integrated with other data.⁣ ⁣ 🛡️ 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆: Observed ground discontinuities require careful interpretation within geological and geomechanical models, and InSAR enables timely alerts, helping operators manage fractured reservoirs safely.⁣ ⁣ InSAR provides operators with invaluable data to enhance safety, predict shifts, and minimize risks in shale gas extraction. ⁣ #InSAR #Fracking #OilAndGas #Subsidence #ReservoirManagement #Geotechnology #DaresTechnology
