🛣️ Applus+ has been appointed as the Quality Management Consultant (QMC) for a supplier evaluation project in Saudi Arabia. Do you know when to use a dynamometer to bed in your brakes? 🏎️ After replacing brake pads or discs, mechanics recommend cautious braking for the first few hundred miles. They may suggest a bedding in process involving gradual stops on a quiet road. This removes imperfections, ensuring uniform contact between pad and disc. It results in consistent braking without grabbing or uneven wear. 🔋 Major advancements are underway in Chile’s electrical infrastructure to ensure a stronger power supply. As part of this critical project, a global Applus+ team is delivering comprehensive support for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), quality inspections and supplier verification for a leading energy company specializing in power generation, transmission and distribution. The Applus+ team will ensure compliance with top industry standards, guaranteeing efficient and continuous energy for strategic regions. At Applus+ Laboratories, we recently asked you to guess how much pressure it takes to break a coconut using our Zwick Test Bench. Now, the results are in! 💥 Test 1: Horizontal test With the coconut placed horizontally between two pressure plates, it split into almost equal halves under a force of 3820 N (roughly 389.4 kg), the same as 130 bricks. 💥 Test 2: Vertical test When positioned vertically, it required 7030 N (around 716.5 kg) to crack the coconut. 💥 Test 3: Full destruction Finally, we went all out and completely shattered the coconut, revealing significant differences in strength depending on the direction of force applied. #MaterialTesting #EngineeringInnovation #CoconutStrength #TestingTechnology #ApplusLaboratories
