[edit]Easily reached from Bissau - a two hour drive on a good road. Plenty of sept-places.
About one hours' drive from Gabú - also on a good road.
The "paragem" (bus station) is a bit far away from the old colonial centre. It's a shorter walk if you get off at the Amilcar Cabral Monument and walk downhill to the river
From Buba, take a direct bus or change at Retunda De Bambadinca. This should take around 3500 CAF, luggage included (2023).

[edit]- The picturesque 1 Old Market and Tranquil Colonial Center. Next to the pleasant river bank.
- Monuments for Amilcar Cabral and the house where Amilcar Cabral was born.
- Cobble-stone streets and boys in donkey carts.
- Boys fishing on the river bank or from dugout canoes.

Drink
[edit]Bar Kasumai in central Bafata (next to the old Church) serves imported beers and soft drinks late into the night. Basic meals are available here. African atmosphere.

- Hotel Maimuna Cape, located on the main street in central Bafata (turn left at the main intersection as you arrive from Bissau) has a few basic rooms with fan and shower. Electricity is supplied from the hotel's power generator from 7PM to 5AM only. Bucket showers. No food.
