Enactus provides a platform for university students to collaborate with business and academic leaders in the development of entrepreneurial-based projects that empower people to transform opportunities into real, sustainable progress for themselves and their communities.
During my time as a president for the Ain Shams University chapter, my responsibilities included:
1- Strategic planning and community projects' management
2- Marketing, recruitment and training of new members
3- Representing the organization internally within the university and with external parties like the corporate sector and media outlets
4- Managing a team of 300 members
During my time as an Enactus Ain Shams University President, I managed to grow the team more than 3-fold, from 80 to 300 members and to implement 5 community outreach projects as well as mobilize the team to fundraise the needed amounts for such community projects. Infact, one of these community outreach projects was a comprehensive development project for a slum area in the Orabi area of the Giza governorate; this project still runs with the current Enactus members of Ain Shams University implementing it. -

Our projects targeted slum areas as well as middle class and university students. One project highlight involved training women in Abo Regela slum area to open their own venture for economic empowerment, which, based on a needs assessment of the area, was a bakery business. Another project highlight was spreading entrepreneurial awareness and education among university students including an annual business plan training and competition.
In recognition of my work, I received 2nd place best entrepreneurial projects among more than 25 Enactus university teams in Egypt during the Enactus annual national competition for the years 2009 & 2010 in a row. -

This chapter presents a comprehensive description and analysis of Egypt’s Education 2.0 (EDU. 2.0) reform plan for grades K-2. The reform’s five key components are described including the new multidisciplinary curriculum, technology integration, school management Continuous Professional Development (CPD), access and infrastructure, and reformed assessment. We analyze this reform from five perspectives and conclude that a cultural shift, high-quality CPD, and a robust accountability system are imperative to sustainable educational reform in Egypt. This cannot be achieved without a shared vision and engagement between teachers, parents, and Egypt’s Education Ministry.

All participants are invited to read the same texts and exchange perspectives through the weekly sharing of critical and creative responses to the readings and common Skype sessions. At the end of the semester, this collaborative learning process culminates in a one-week workshop through which the participants produce reflective pieces on the various ways in which the experiment has affected their approach to learning and researching in the disciplines of history and anthropology in general and in the field of Middle Eastern Studies more specifically. Within this framework, all participants are regarded as co-producers of knowledge.
