Rewolucja AI, którą przewidzieliśmy w 2016 roku… (ENG) Back in 2016, together with Bartlomiej Rozkrut I stood on a stage of InternetBeta Conference, talking about AI, and the project we launched called Edward (AI powered intelligent assistant) - it was one of the first AI related presentations in Poland. And our journey with AI has been a rollercoaster. I had dozens of presentations for clients and conference speeches showing the potential of AI and numerous possibilities that are in front of us. We event started AI meetups, a regular event in couple of cities, which was gathering 200-300 people each. But by 2020-2021, interest had faded. It felt like we were shouting into the void. We thought we were glimpsing the future, but little did we know how much was still hidden from view. Then, suddenly, ChatGPT exploded onto the scene in 2022, and the world woke up to AI's potential. It's like looking at our old presentation through a time warp - so much has changed, yet the dream remains! Today, nearly every app we create involves using one of the AI API's. More than that, using no-code solutions you can achieve great results with days or weeks, not months or years. Howewer, most AI solutions feel like simple OpenAI wrappers with a new paintjob. I believe the real, transformative business applications are still to be developed! Meanwhile, tech giants march steadily towards "real" AI. OpenAI has unveiled a 5-step roadmap to "Artificial General Intelligence". Their five-step plan feels both thrilling and daunting. Are we ready for what comes next? Will we even notice the moment when AI transitions from tool to companion, from assistant to innovator? Will we wake up one day to a world reshaped by AGI, much like how AI quietly became part of our lives? As I look back at this first presentation, I see that we've come so far, yet the horizon seems more distant than ever. The path to AGI is not just a technological journey, but a deeply human one. It challenges us to rethink our roles, our purpose, our very definition of intelligence. What are your thoughts on this? Governments should recognize that (if done correctly) telcos could be platforms of growth and development for local empowerment, employment, and GDP. If I were a government I would be steering the 6G direction to increase the possibility of this being true. It is more than a technology standard and a delusional hope of change (5G). Before I get comments on this cannot be true, I agree it cannot be true the way we behave today. That is why we have to change and the change will take 10 years. But we have to actually change, starting today. 6G cannot be the next 5G. None of the companies involved can afford that to be true. #stop6Gdelusion

Why is there a Massive shift from paid ads to affiliate marketing in 2024? Ukraine's optical network construction is under the leadership of Ukrtelecom The business portal Delo.ua collected data on leaders in the development of optical networks in Ukraine. Ukrtelecom is in the first place. Ukrtelecom has already laid more than 80 thousand kilometers of optics and by the end of 2024 the company plans to build more than 8 thousand kilometers of optical communication lines. Most of the planned investments will be aimed at replacing copper infrastructure with modern optical. The benefits of GPON became apparent during the COVID-19 pandemic and full-scale war. The absence of the need to power intermediate nodes allows you to stay in touch even during power outages due to shelling of critical infrastructure by Russians. The energy-independent Internet service provided by Ukrtelecom is available to 70% of its subscriber base across the country today. "At the moment, saving electricity for all of us is the task of national security, and it is almost impossible to charge the battery to the full, in conditions of stabilization blackouts. Therefore, the energy-saving GPON technology, for which it is necessary to power only the node (OLT), also performs a useful social function - reducing the load on the country's power grids", Ukrtelecom Development Director Sergey Kindras says in a comment for Delo.ua. It is clear that GPON technology has advantages and is vital for both the national economy and private consumers.

Ukrtelecom is in TOP-3 largest telecom providers in Ukraine   The demand for GPON technology has increased significantly because of the blackouts throughout the country. Providers using this non-volatile technology have queues lasting several weeks. Forbes Ukraine has collected a selection of the 15 largest operators.   According to Forbes Ukraine almost 4,000 companies operate on the Ukrainian market, five of which are national operators. The rest are regional operators that provide services in one or two regions.   Ukrtelecom has seen a surge of optical Internet connections. Compared to the past, there has been a 16% increase in the number of new subscribers of the mass segment, small and medium-sized enterprises, to the high-speed optical Internet in the first half of this year. This category of users saw a 15.5% increase in revenue from the provision of optical Internet services. Among large enterprises, the number of new optical subscribers increased by 37.5% in the first half of the year, and the corresponding income increased by 34%.   We are ready for long power outages and are able to provide continuous access to our services for most subscribers! Last time I posted about the Armenian Telco industry's marketing spending and we got some cool insights - now let's take a look at the banking industry. You guys gave me feedback from last time that the discrepancy in numbers could be because I took larger markets and compared them to Armenia. This time around I threw the net closer to home. I looked at financial statement from banks in Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and also the US (as a marketing benchmark). Found some really cool insights! Since we are talking about the banking sector I took marketing expenses/total assets. The reason I did it this way is that we are looking at market share vs share of voice (budget) and banks calculate market share based on the share of assets - I also only took the top 3-4 banks in each country based on market share, since those 3-4 banks would represent the vast majority of banking assets in the country. Here is the breakdown (all numbers are in their local currency): Armenia(total) = 0.06% Ardshinbank CJSC : 410,709(MKT)/1,634,862,925(Assets) = 0.03% Ameriabank CJSC : 1,148,696/1,409,581,217 = 0.08% AMIO BANK : 191,929/​​828,535,011 = 0.02% Acba bank OJSC : 870,396/783,793,780 = 0.11% IDBank : 552,468/366,674,196 = 0.15% Georgia (total) = 0.20% TBC Bank: 42,382/29,032,176 = 0.15% Bank of Georgia : 35,316/16,861,700 = 0.21% Liberty Bank Georgia : 7,590/3,640,589 = 0.21% BasisBank : 2,451/1,620,611 = 0.15% Kazakhstan (total) = 0.13% Kaspi Bank : 12,112/5,121,647 = 0.24% BCC : 2,651/5,291,039 = 0.05% ForteBank : 3,010/3,253,175 = 0.09% USA (total) = 0.07% JPMorgan Chase & Co. : 2,940/3,380,000 = 0.09% Bank of America: 1,810/2,400,000 = 0.08% Wells Fargo: 505/1,800,000 = 0.03% Citi: 1,560/1,600,000 = 0.10% Country sum up: Armenia 0.06% Georgia 0.20% Kazakhstan 0.13% USA 0.07% Armenian banks are spending almost 3.5X less than Georgian banks and more than 2X less than Kazakhstani banks to gain assets. Interestingly, Armenian banks and their marketing departments are acting more like we are in the US market - although even then we are still spending less. It makes sense that emerging markets like Georgia and Kazakhstan are spending more than the US, but why is Armenia an anomaly? Are we simply living in the twilight zone of marketing expenditures? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. PS. I spend hours and hours looking through more than 2,500 pages of annual reports, so if you share this post, I would greatly appreciate it.
