Be cautious whether you are building a microservice architecture or a distributed monolith. Also most startups don't actually require a microservice architecture until they scale big. Don't get excited with every new buzzy thing and implement it. Managing microservices comes with its own costs both in time/resources and money. Dont try to weld a sword to cut an apple. A knife should do the purpose

Another day, another opportunity to challenge myself and bring out a better version of me! 🌟 I've been immersed in my frontend journey and recently embarked on my backend development path. Two days have passed, and I'm constantly reflecting on how to improve and push myself beyond my comfort zone. I've been devouring books on personal growth and finance, drawing inspiration in countless ways. My mindset is so determined that "impossible" doesn't exist in my vocabulary. With this spirit, I've decided to embark on a 60-day challenge to build three full web applications, covering both frontend and backend. Here's the breakdown of my challenge: ⚡ Project 1: 20 days - E-commerce website ⚡ Project 2: 20 days - Chat Application ⚡ Project 3: 20 days - Portfolio Website ⚡Start date - July 1, 2024. The exciting part of this challenge? 🤭 At the end, I plan to apply to at least four companies for roles as a frontend, backend, or full stack engineer and get in there and also build solutions for different people across the globe. The goal of this challenge is to shatter any notions of impossibility and emerge victorious, powered by a positive mindset, determination, confidence, and commitment. I know this won't be easy. Coding is demanding, especially while juggling school and other responsibilities. But I'm ready to take it on. There are many more to this particular challenge but just wait for it ⚡🤭 Stay tuned for my success story and the breakthroughs these challenges will bring. We feel an urgent need for Dart in the backend for several reasons: 1. Unifying the development experience in Dart 2. Empower Dart developers 3. Integrate backend development in Dart with the exponential growth of Flutter But the biggest reason that drives us are the pains we experienced firsthand when we built a product with Dart and Flutter. The painful landscape we were in was this: Speed was critical. We had little time to gather feedback. We had to get out to market quickly. Users would forget about us very quickly. Money was burning month after month, inexorably. We needed a backend in Dart that would make us faster, save us time and allow us to iterate faster. So we thought of Gazelle. We ran a hackathon that got people angry, and boy did it work! A few months ago, we hosted a hackathon at Darrow. It was a special event for quite a few reasons: - We changed the rules (not everyone liked that) 🥴 - The event was dedicated to the memory of Asaf Hamami, an October 7th hero 🦸 - The results, well… they blew our minds. 🤯 So, what happened? We decided to flip things on its head.  1) Participants were sent on a mission without a mission. The only instruction was to think big and get out of your comfort zone. When they asked what the expectations were, my answer was, “Have fun, experiment, make new friends and think big.” 2) Participants had to present ideas before they were ready: This drove them nuts. Within the first few hours, we held pitching sessions to investors, leadership, and internal customers. “How can we pitch when we haven’t built anything yet?” and “We don’t have enough time to do actual coding!” were very common questions. They were right - but pitching early helped them focus and develop ideas that actually solved major pain points. It made the entire team think like startup founders. 3) Teams hacked away for 5 days! For me, it was essential for teams to have enough time to get real feedback and advice ‘on-the-go,’ refining solutions so they could actually be implemented 💪. 4) They did not get to pick their own teams: Working with new people from different disciplines translates into fresher outlooks and fresher ideas, and I wanted to give people the opportunity to work closely with new people. So, was it a success? It sure was. The Blanky team (gotta love the team name creativity), led by Rona Sadan, pitched an innovative enterprise solution for Darrow AI, which is a market we have never worked in. The proposal focused on equipping companies with technology to detect legal violations within their own systems so companies could proactively prevent legal issues before they arise. To me, this was a genius idea. And to the entire leadership team. So we decided to create it. This initiative is now a part of our 2025 roadmap. This solution will completely transform legal risk management for enterprises from reactive to predictive by automatically detecting violations before they surface, so enterprises can prevent costly litigation and protect their assets. To summarize For me, executing this hackathon was my actual hackathon project 💪 - breaking the rules and learning as we went. I have held my share of hackathons, but this one was different. Projects were interesting, new relationships were forged, and overall, the results were outstanding. The general afterglow is still with us months later. 🚀 As developers, especially in startups or small teams navigating the zero-to-one phase, one of our key responsibilities is to build systems designed for rapid iteration. This means crafting code that not only accommodates but facilitates the easy addition of new features, regardless of how much the product roadmap may evolve. 🔧 Over the weekend, I explored various UI tools to create an experimentation playground for testing different LLMs, both open source and commercial. The goal was to increase our speed of experimentation dramatically. However, adapting tools like OpenWebUI (https://lnkd.in/gfwsJCTk) to work effectively with functionalities from platforms like Azure OpenAI presented some challenges—reflecting the ever-evolving nature of our field. 💡 For those working with large language models (LLMs), I highly recommend establishing a similar setup. Tools like OpenWebUI and LMStudio can serve well for UI purposes, but integrating something like LiteLLM (https://lnkd.in/ggu82_Mf) could enhance your team’s ability to experiment without getting tangled in technical complexities. 🤝 If anyone has recommendations for UIs that integrate smoothly with various LLMs, I’d love to hear about it.
