We are searching for a Design Engineer to join our team.

This team member will support the needs of TFT's International Segment primarily through (but not limited to) new product design, existing product enhancements, outside sales team support and product/application training for customers and channel partners.

View our video - TFT, a Firefighter Legacy KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Aids in the design of new products, design modifications, and related methods for manufacture, assembly, and testing of products according to company policy, procedures, and work instructions.
Documents various design activities according to company policy, procedures, and work instructions.
Aides in testing of new concepts, developing specifications, overseeing manufacture of test pieces, assembling, and running tests.
Assimilates test data and modifies designs as necessary.
Collaborates with Production and Quality personnel to help solve manufacturing challenges.
Provides training regarding assembly instructions for new products as needed.
Redesigns and makes minor changes in existing parts to improve production, performance and/or assembly as assigned.
Recommends design changes to meet new market requests.
Travels to vendor sites to evaluate performance of company products and solve problems as needed.
Responds to customer inquiries regarding technical issues and problems.
Provides technical support to TFT sales staff and their key customers.
Performs item file work and related status reports on computer as assigned, such as adding new items and bills of materials, editing existing items.
Organizes and updates prints and distributes revisions to appropriate shop personnel.
Drafts and proofreads technical product documentation as assigned, such as product manuals, assembly instructions, test instructions, graphs, charts.
Supports efforts to research, apply for and maintain registered intellectual property documentation and similar efforts for industry trade associations/regulations as well as quality/performance certification standards.
Periodically attends and participates in trade shows.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Must have a minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Design Engineering from an accredited university.
Knowledge of standard mechanical principles including Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Materials, and Fluid Dynamics Proficiency in 3D Modeling Software (preferably Solidworks).
Ability to conceptualize new product applications and modifications, determine feasibility, and develop into reliable new products.
Working knowledge of and ability to operate computer and applicable software and test equipment.
Ability to communicate and interact with different levels of the organization, customers and vendors via appropriate methods.
Ability to work with others in a team environment with minimum supervision, work on several tasks at the same time, occasionally under time pressure.
Ability to read, interpret, and generate detailed prints, sketches, layouts and specifications.
Ability to work extended hours, evening hours and occasional weekends.
Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally without restrictions.
Preferred Skills/Abilities: Minimum 0-3 year’s experience in mechanical product design.
