Description Summary of the position: The Continuous Improvement Specialist will lead business process evaluation sessions and process consistency between users/systems.
While leading several continuous improvement initiatives, this specialist will measure data, monitor processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
This person will also evaluate existing manufacturing processes, analyze implemented changes, and recommend adjustments to workflows, schedules, and other processes as needed.
The position is located at the Hitachi Global Air Power Michigan City manufacturing location.
Duties and responsibilities: Lead cross-functional continuous projects designed to analyze and design sequence of operations and workflows for improved efficiencies.
Assist in the accountability for the day-to-day decisions that directly impact the quality, efficiency, and profitability of the manufacturing, inventory, engineering, and support operations.
Evaluate and recommend projects/programs providing improvements in key areas (e.
g.
Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost).
Leverage lean manufacturing, six sigma, business process management/reengineering, and process improvement tools to drive transformation.
Analyze data collected from sensors on the manufacturing floor for real-time visibility of manufacturing assets.
Clean, analyze, interpret, and display data using a variety of business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI, R, and Python.
Employ sophisticated problem-solving approaches such as optimization, data mining, statistical analysis, and modelling to provide solutions that help operations function more efficiently and cost-effectively.
Prepare management reports and briefings that provide trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
Manage multiple projects with dynamic shifting priorities and targets.
Implement digital technologies to increase automation and improve production.
Develop tools for performing predictive and prescriptive maintenance (PdM/RxM) to minimize equipment downtime and increase production rates.
Identify and implement ambitious world class standards that are measured, monitored and achievable.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Data Science, Supply Chain Management, or Equivalent Degree.
Current Six Sigma Black/Green Belt, Project Management Professional (PMP), or Lean Certification a plus.
Professional experience: 4+ years of successful continuous improvement experience with demonstrable tangible financial benefit.
Demonstrated successful project management experience and business acumen.
Demonstrated experience with ensuring effective change management, development, and execution.

Strong financial and business acumen and experience leading customer-facing discussions.
Strong collaborative skills and ability to successfully work in a matrix environment.
Ability to analyze data, multitask and problem solve in a fast-paced challenging environment.
Experience with Apache Spark, Hadoop, Power BI, Python, R, SAP, SQL, and/or Tableau a plus.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
