*POSITION SUMMARY:*
Reporting to the ShoreMet President, the Plant Engineering Manager has responsibility for managing the plant engineering & maintenance activities.
The activities include interaction with employees & contractors for these functions as well as recommending chemical process improvements, new unit operations, engineering, installation, and building and grounds maintenance at the Valparaiso, Indiana facility.
*POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:*
* INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (mechanical or chemical preferred) with experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
* REQUIRED Education Qualifications - bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or chemical preferred)
* Preferred Qualifications - demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with wide variety of audiences (operators, management, sales, contractors, etc.
).
Self-starting ability to drive results, driving change, business understanding and teamwork.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*:
Engineering Function:
* Focus on continuous process improvements to optimize existing equipment running at its maximum potential.
Interact with the Operation Manager by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing operating and engineering data and trends, and implement any necessary changes to the manufacturing processes to ensure plant compliance, employee safety and production efficiency.
* Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical equipment, systems and processes to meet operational requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
* Research and analyze new equipment design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.
Develop, seek approval and implement capital projects.
* Evaluate innovative industrial processes and equipment to determine where and how application can be integrated.
* Evaluate & recommend engineering principles and practices to emerging fields, such as process logic controls & robotics to improve operational efficiencies.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Maintenance Function:
* Overall responsibilities for plant maintenance operations, supervising the maintenance department to minimize downtime and increase efficiencies throughout the plant.
* Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
* Maintain the spare parts inventory to ensure that there are no production interruptions as a result of equipment failure.
* Maintain the building and grounds to provide a professional working environment.
* Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
* Develop and implement a program to maintain “best of class” safety and housekeeping throughout the production floor, laboratory and office spaces.
Note: ensure proper inventory and use of PPE.

Pay: $75,000.
