about

Rock ‘n’ roll mainstays the Ducky Boys are back with an all-new 17-track album, Chasing the Ghost. This marks the band’s first album in six years and their first LP to be released on vinyl in the United States.

The fan-favorite lineup that wrote and performed on the band’s seminal Three Chords and the Truth and its follow up, The War Back Home, returns for this record. Written chiefly by singer/bassist Mark Lind, these songs deal with trials, heartache, pain and redemption with his signature nerve and honesty.

However, the album does bring some new elements to the band’s sound: The last four Ducky Boys studio albums were produced with Jim Siegel at the Outpost, whose sound was in many ways the signature of the 90’s Boston Street Punk scene. Looking to infuse the album with some fresh energy, Chasing the Ghost was recorded in several studios around Boston, utilizing some of the city’s most talented engineers. Most notably, the album was recorded in part was mixed and mixed by Benny Grotto (The Dresden Dolls, Ben Folds) at Mad Oak Studios in Allston.

This record pushes the boundaries and raises the stakes for the Ducky Boys - and not just musically. The band has cast aside the shelter of an outside label, releasing and distributing Chasing the Ghost through their own State Line Records. The goal of this imprint is to create a model which will allow the band to record what they want to, when they want to; to release music from other bands which they enjoy and support; and to support the fanbases and independent music outlets that are critical for real music to be heard and spread.

In many ways, Chasing the Ghost is the definitive Ducky Boys album. The band’s growing in new directions, as always - but they’re still doing what they do best: knocking you over and picking you up, one song at a time.
