Last night I had the great pleasure of being a part of a lively discussion on 'AI in Healthcare' at the Digital Health Copenhagen - Meetup.com event at Health Tech Hub Copenhagen. Together with Katalin Vikuk, Mark Yousef, Constant Beroulle and Nicolas Bouchet we touched upon many aspects of this brave new world. All under the expert hosting of Paula Petcu. There were a few points, I felt it was important to get across, when we discuss the opportunities for AI in healthcare: - Trustworthiness is going to be key. We simply need to make sure we have both data privacy, data security and product quality under absolute control. Leniency and mistakes can have severe personal consequences in healthcare. - When trying to push the message about AI into healthcare, we need to be more thoughtful of how we frame it. We need to focus more on 'Narrow AI' in compartmentalized 'boxes', where it essentially is a question about adding a performance and efficiency booster to something that is already well understood by clinicians. That will help combat myths, fears and what have you and pave the way for some really strong factual use cases that deliver positive outcomes. - Founders need to close the gap between the realities in the healthcare sector and the fantasies of the tech world. Healthcare is not an industry, where you can just assume that your customers and stakeholders will 'get it' or ' go home'. The healthcare sector is - for good reason - risk averse, focused on real evidence and quite conservative. Put yourself in their shoes and understand them, if you ever want to sell something to them. We also briefly touched upon what is going on in the US, and what impact RFK is going to have on regulation etc over there. I called it an "interesting experiment", we will likely see over there and at the same time expressed my gratitude that I am personally not going to be one of the guinea pigs of whatever it is that they will be doing going forward. I think there are some early signs that there could be some troublesome developments and 'free for alls', which could end up hurting people. I hope I will be proven wrong on this one. Thanks again to the organizers for inviting me for such a great session, and sorry for the AI generated picture. I felt embarrassed when we faced a setback in our lefse production at Norsland Lefse, but I reminded myself that mistakes are part of the learning process. Let me share my mistake and the lessons I gained for digital commerce growth. At Norsland Lefse, we typically don’t produce lefse—a traditional Norwegian flatbread—during the summer due to our non-air-conditioned production area and the heat from gas grills. We've been brainstorming ways to make lefse year-round, hoping to eventually install air conditioning, though it’s currently out of our budget. One option we considered was replacing our gas grills with electric ones that produce less heat. We decided to replace one of our gas grills with a used electric grill for $800, along with a few thousand more for the electrical hookup, preparing for future electric grills. Last Wednesday, we had a test run with the new equipment. We gathered to turn on the electric grill. Someone suggested setting it to 500 degrees, which the lefse team agreed was ideal for cooking lefse. However, I then realized that the grill’s dials only went to 400 degrees. I suggested we try 400 degrees, which we tried, but it quickly became clear that it wouldn’t work out. After feeling embarrassed about the money and effort we’d invested, I admitted my mistake—I never checked what temperature we needed for lefse or whether the grill could reach that high. Reflecting on the experience, I learned several key lessons: 🔍 Customer research: My production team was the “customer” for the grill. While I consulted others at Norsland Lefse, I didn’t involve the team that actually grills the lefse. Their input could have been invaluable. ⚠️ Assumptions can lead to issues: Even with the team’s input, we might have assumed the grill would reach 500 degrees without checking the specs. 🔄 Quick testing and learning: Thankfully, we didn't switch out all the gas grills at once, which could have made the situation more difficult to manage. For now, we can continue using the gas grills. We can easily acquire another electric grill that reaches 500 degrees, swap it out, and make another attempt. What does this have to do with digital commerce? 💡 In digital commerce, we constantly test new ideas to boost revenue or cut costs. While many ideas have merit, the best way to minimize risk is by engaging with customers, clarifying assumptions, and learning quickly from our experiments. 🚀 We shouldn’t fear making mistakes; they are essential for learning. The goal should be to minimize time and resources spent while accelerating our learning process to achieve desired results more quickly. Entrepreneurial side note: Over the past 26 years in business, I’ve made countless mistakes. In discussions about growth, we often overlook the messy steps that come with it. While we should strive for excellence, we must view mistakes as opportunities to learn. I now know to always check the temperature range of any grill I purchase!

Identity. Digital Identity. Two separate things? No. In my opinion, they are merging as our 'digital identity' already has become a part of our identity as human beings. Imagine if the internet were turned off tomorrow. Many would feel that their 'self' or their 'consciousness' would no longer be complete, that something critical would be gone. This is why we need to be aware of 'digital identity' and why we continuously need to discuss how we manage and integrate it into our lives. I had the pleasure of doing a short TEDx speech on this subject a few years ago. The issue is still the same today, and maybe even more important than ever. 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲. Scrum Master Clinic Copenhagen has been around for about 3 years now and we completed 15 events with various companies hosting. I have a blast being part of this community and have meet so many talented and amazing people. This is some of my reflections 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐬.  We have about 450 members and of those a nice hardcore group of awesome Scrum Masters participating almost every time. It makes it ideal for new participants to join, learn and feel included by participants that has been at Scrum Master Clinic for multiple events. We usually make room for 35 people; this is not to have a too large group for people to facilitate. It is we a bit sadness that We can not just have room for everybody. This sometime create a large waitlist. 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬. At every event a lot of participants have to reprioritize their time for all sorts of reasons.   At least 10 participants will not be able to make the event, some have the capacity to change their RSVP on Meetup, others don’t show up. There has been discussion if we should charge a small amount to participate to have more accountability. We have chosen not to and just acknowledge that Scrum Masters are also busy people and plans can change very quickly. 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞.  It is with a lot of humility and gratefulness many companies have hosted a meetup. It can take time to find a suitable date, many people need to be taking into account. So far it is not an issue to find a someone to host a meetup. That said we are so grateful that PFA (Kudos to Maria / Linda) is a wonderful backup plan we have, if another venue is not possible. 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞. Event you have never facilitated a public event before, this is a very safe space to try it for the first time. Organizers give all the support needed, most do not need a lot it and it is a pleasure to see all these highly skilled Scrum Master do awesome presentation and facilitation.

Last week, we hosted our second Visma Design Day Finland, bringing together designers from across Visma Finland to discuss a big question: how to measure the impact of design? In a full-day workshop, Vitaly Friedman shared how to define and track Design KPIs—metrics that connect design to real business results. Here are the key insights we discussed: 1️⃣ Bridging the language gap: UX and business often speak different languages. While business talks about “growth” and “markets,” UX focuses on “reducing friction” and “building trust.” Designers need to align their message with business goals to create better collaboration. 2️⃣ Design drives results: Metrics like cost reduction, churn prevention, and revenue growth show how design solves business problems. At the same time, metrics like user satisfaction and engagement show the value it creates for users. 3️⃣ Aligning design with business goals: To scale the design’s impact, we need KPIs focusing on user and business needs. For example: Increase product adoption rates among new customers by 10% within 6 months by improving onboarding experiences and reducing friction in the first-use journey. Focus on outcomes and results if you want to make design more impactful and demonstrate its value in your organization. Communicate the design's results in clear, measurable terms—make it a concrete result that shows its impact on users and the business. If you're selling (basically any) physical product, you might've heard of DPP - Digital Product Passport. I joined in on Dansk Mode & Textil and Erhvervsstyrelsen's talk, and here are the main takeaways: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁? A DPP is a digital record that provides essential data about a product, from manufacturing to end-of-life. It includes information like: - Product lifespan - Recyclability ♻️ - Environmental impact 🌱 - Energy efficiency ⚡ - Material composition This allows consumers to better understand what kind of product they're buying, and what sort of impact it has on the environment. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗣𝗣? It's still quite early days. The final standard proposition for DPP will be sent in December 2025 - however, the EU funded an analysis to identify the barriers. Here are some of them: - Fragmented IT systems - 49% of the companies point to fragmented IT systems being a barrier - Silos - Companies are creating data silos which are not built for cross-company communication 𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲? The advice was crystal clear: 1. If someone is pitching you a complete DPP platform, be very skeptical. The requirements don't exist yet, so no one knows what they will be. 2. Start preparing your product data and product data systems. Ensure that they are accurate and gathered in one platform, as this will make things much easier in the future. Speaking from first-hand knowledge: A lot of (highly profitable and large) companies struggle with their product data and product content so don't be embarrassed about it. With more and more requirements coming from regulations and trade partners, now is probably the best time to take a look under the product hood.

Buying friction is killing deals. High friction — even friction that isn’t a product of “buying from you” — is stalling deal progress. A few factoids: 📉buying friction reduces the likelihood of a bold customer purchase by 43% 🤦🏻‍♂️the average (!) purchase has 5+ various commercial representatives and 70%+ of customers admit they’re confused as to who does what 🤯there are 12+ decision makers in the average (!) buying process — and yes, it’s really bad even in smaller price point, transactional purchases 🎢there are 7 simultaneous change events happening inside the average customer organization during a purchase Yet, we know that 31% of deals successfully overcome these barriers. Yesterday at Qvik we were joined by Terhi Manninen and Ville Lamminen from Näkövammaisten liitto to discuss accessibility. I organised a similar session earlier this week also at our client, Kesko - K-Group where we focused on our digital services and raising awareness. These were particularly valuable sessions for us as we got to eg. witness and ask how Ville as a blind person uses digital products with his phone and what kinds of good and bad examples there are out there. And most importantly – understanding why. Consider trying to weave accessibility as a part of your processes. Document and agree how accessibility will be part of your definition of done, review processes, design principles, guidelines for content creation and even the style of your PowerPoint presentations. This way the responsibility shifts from the individuals to the organisation. This is one way to start building a culture of accessibility. But as Terhi and Ville said, it doesn’t happen overnight and it certainly cannot be achieved without a collective commitment. So start with what motivates you. It could be for example: learning to use your favourite app with a screen reader, reaching out to minority customer groups and to talk with them, nerding out on WCAG criteria, making sure you always have a proper alt text when it’s needed, making your product usable by keyboard only, raising awareness about accessibility in your organisation or simplifying and de-biasing your text by sparring with an AI. Or refraining from over-using emojis as bullet points in your LinkedIn post as they carry a lot of text and can be laboursome to listen to. Instead put important information in front of emojis 😊✌🏽

Eight years ago, an optician retailer in Sweden hired a BCG consultant to understand why customers, on average, only owned 1.2 pairs of prescription glasses despite having diverse needs (e.g., sunglasses, sports glasses, reading glasses). The study revealed that since eyesight typically changes every 2.5 years, customers were reluctant to invest in multiple expensive pairs that would soon become obsolete. The solution? Revamp the payment model. By introducing a subscription-based plan, customers could pay a monthly fee and receive free lens changes whenever their prescription updated. Additionally, customers could swap one frame per year at no extra cost. The results were transformative. Now, more than 50% of the market's revenue comes from subscriptions. On average, customers own three pairs of glasses, enhancing eye health and promoting a circular economy—old glasses are returned, refurbished, and reused. After 15 months of developing our platform, we are now poised to offer this innovative solution to opticians worldwide.
