Welcome Henrik Perrin to Circle Networks! 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 My name is Henrik Perrin. I live with my wife Anna-Karin and our cat Svante in the middle of the deep forests of Bergslagen, 70 km north of Örebro. You could also say that is more or less right in between Stockholm and Oslo. I have tried to live in the big cities of Sweden, both Stockholm and Gothenburg, but always had the longing back to the closeness of trees, blueberries, the sounds of birds in may and the smell of mushrooms in august. Do not get me wrong, I am a people person. I love to meet old and new friends and to do my job as an educator and coach. But at the end of the day, nature is my haven of tranquility and recovery. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 As I said above, I am an educator and facilitator in stressreduction and "difficult talks". I teach and do workshops for managers and coworkers to find out exactly what stresses you the most at the workplace, and together we search for the most effective way to manage and reduce that stress. We all have very little time, so the solution must be time effective and quite simple to implement into your everyday work. You know, those small changes of habits that gives the biggest possible ripple effect. I also teach and coach managers in how to handle difficult talks and situations. You know, when someone has misbehaved, under performed, starts conflicts or if you have a bully in the group. Maybe you have someone around you all day that really needs a new deodorant? There are ways to say and do things that change these situations from possible conflicts to a feeling of cooperation. The way you talk, the place you choose, the level of assertiveness you feel when you talk etc, all matters and can work for the benefit of all involved. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 C𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲 N𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸s I have been in different networks but have always felt more or less uncomfortable with all the people around me that are only interested in themselves first. Everybody wants to tell everybody else about themselves but nobody is asking any real questions. Shallow courtesies and empty phrases are exchanged in a rapid pace over lunch and afterwards I have felt empty and small. (I am 194 cm tall). But in Circle Network I feel like a person, someone who has something to offer to other people, not because of my job, but because I am me. For the first time I long for the networkmeetings every week. In CN, I don´t have meetings with competitors or even colleagues, I meet future friends. And I rather make business with professional friends, than friendly professionals. Hope to see and meet you all. What value is a tool? If we rely on a tool to extend human performance - then a well-designed tool, fit for purpose, and open-ended in its use is very valuable. We shape our lives by the tools we use. This then is a critical challenge to all Assistive technology providers to frame our R&D, our market offerings, our education, our relationship to society providers - our health and insurance systems - are we providing tools that are good enough? I talked with Tor Nørretranders about the ideas in his 1991 book *The User Illusion: Cutting Consciousness Down to Size.* We discussed the dialogue between Niels Bohr and Albert Einstein, defining consciousness, primary vs extended consciousness, the origins of the user illusion in computer interface design, the mind as an attempt to create a relevant myth, measuring the human mind in terms of information theory, consciousness as a story of reduction & compression, the physics of information, Maxwell’s demon, I & me, Benjamin Libet’s experiments on the delay of consciousness, being the spectator of our own acts, delayed auditory feedback, the veto theory, moving free will to the “me,” Robert Sapolsky’s arguments against free will, the reality of emergence, exformation, a simple translation of The Iliad, Julian Jaynes’s theory of the origins of consciousness, why modern lives have less information, the problem with a subtractive approach to happiness, and much more.

Suddenly, I understood why I'm most relaxed when I write, in the zone, and why I get so many great ideas and connections while running. Thank you, Morten Friis-Olivarius, PhD, keynote speaker at the NUAS Kommunikation – Communications Conference in 2024. My key takeaways: 1. Creativity in the brain is not about producing something entirely new, but about recombining existing knowledge and ideas in novel and useful ways. 2. Creative insights often occur when cognitive inhibition is lowered, which can happen during periods of relaxation, distraction, or when engaged in routine activities that allow the mind to wander. 3. Having a wide and diverse range of knowledge and experiences can significantly enhance a person's creative potential, as it allows for more remote and novel associations to be made. P.S. Here's a photo from my ride on a rental bike I picked up this morning on the go from my hotel to the conference venue. I love feeling like I truly live in this beautiful city of Copenhagen. 🇩🇰❤️

How and when do you cross someone else's boundaries? With a hug? With a comment? Is it the same as intimate or sexual boundaries? And when does it cross the line into actual transgressive behaviour? If you find it difficult to answer these questions then you are not alone! Last year I started offering workshops and lectures in personal boundaries - and the interest has been phenomenal. On a weekly basis I meet and talk with potential clients who want to know more. They want to learn. They want to do better. And they want to give their employees better tools to navigate in the work place. However, I also meet a lot of fear; A fear of opening up, a fear of talking about boundaries, a fear of saying the wrong things. Transgressive behavior in the workplace can be many different things and it can lead to misunderstandings, non-communication, uneasiness and shame. It is not only uncomfortable, but can lead to an unhealthy work environment, harm employees’ wellbeing and cause poor mental health. In the end, it can lead to resignations and even trauma. The good news, however, is that it is never too late to learn and be better at navigating personal boundaries. In the VIP section with Brené Brown, beautifully facilitated by Pellegrino Riccardi, the audience had the opportunity to ask questions. #Selfawareness is a crucial leadership skill, says Brené Brown, as is the ability to take an outside perspective on oneself. Having in voice in what we do and how we do it is not just a "nice to have" for kids in school... it is the foundation for humans to experience agency and find meaning. This week, a new study from Børnerådet, Danske Skoleelever and UNICEF Danmark confirmed that very few children feel they experience influence over learning in school. According to this survey of over 1,800 students in Denmark: 📢 Only 10% report that teaching is incorporating their interests 📢 3 out of 5 students say they rarely or never help decide what they work with in school 📢 More than half of students want more participation in teaching Without a doubt, more co-creation and student voice in teaching and learning is critical to what school looks like in the future. (I'd also argue, it's critical to our experience as adults in work and the general ability we have to make decisions in our lives.) The good news? There are many schools on their way to re-designing teaching, organization and culture to support kids having more say. In the report, two schools we've worked with at Imagine If (Langebjergskolen and Vestre Skole) are showcased as ways to bring students into teaching. Their work with Project-Based Learning has been transformative for kids... but also provides a possible pathway for more schools to open up.
