Sustainability in my professional life. Part 4: The Fellowship of Green Software (continuation from previous post) So, what happened after Hans-Jürgen and I had agreed to put Green Software on our agenda for the Backend Onsite? We used the Open Space format for our onsite, and I hosted the session on Green Software. I shared what I had learned so far (which honestly did not seem a lot), and then we started discussing and collecting ideas. I had not expected that so many developers would be interested in the topic, and again I was amazed by the amount of ideas that they brainstormed. And this time we did not get stuck afterwards. Green Software became a recurring topic in our future onsites, and also spread into the organization. Over the years, Hans-Jürgen had built a great network within the company, and he used it to get in touch with the Sustainability Management and look for other people who wanted to contribute to making the organization even more sustainable. In the meantime, my engagement as an external Scrum Master with the company has come to an end, but Hans-Jürgen and the developers are still working on Green Software and making good progress. For example, one of the developers has presented the concept of Green Software in a department townhall and they are exploring the Azure Emissions Dashboard to measure the footprint of their software. I am deeply grateful that I could be a part of this movement, and it makes me incredibly happy that it is still growing after I left the project. Thank you, guys! Without your energy and your drive to find solutions, we would not have come very far. I am honored to have walked this path with you, and curious what will come next. And I will always feel connected to you wonderful people, even though I’m not part of the team anymore. "What does your current programming look like? Before we can change anything, we need to be aware of what is there now. I knew for most of my life I didn't want to live in Denmark, but I was terrified of leaving my home country. In fact, I was scared of almost everything. When my peers started going abroad on exchange, and I stayed behind because I was too afraid to leave, I knew I had a problem. I realized that if I did not fix my fears, I would never be able to fulfill my dream of living abroad. So I started paying attention to the stories I was telling myself about what was scary and why, and I started challenging those fears so I could learn new stories." (from last week's TEDx keynote) Challenging fears is one of the most effective tools in personal development. So is challenging assumptions, judgements, triggers, desires, stories we tell ourselves about what our lives should look like. The deeper we get into ourselves and the internal work, the more we realize that everything can be challenged because everything has been programmed. And the deeper we get, the more we need other people to put up a mirror in which we can see ourselves in more detail. That's one of my favorite parts of the work I do. I absolutely love helping people identify their blindspots, not only because it helps them elevate to new heights, but because what I see in others I can then see in myself. What I love about this work is that it never ends. There is always a new level, always a deeper way to connect with ourselves and others and build a more fulfilling life.

Three questions I ask in an interview and why they result in better matches 👇🏼 During the 20+ years I have been working within tech & product development, as leader and recruiting manager, I have practiced focusing on explaining the expectations and working conditions and asking questions based on those. My questions: ❓Based on these circumstances, how would you bring value? ❓ How do you behave when you have something to say/share? ❓ How do I catch your attention and engage you? These indicate to the candidate: ✅ This is how I listen to you ✅ This is how I know how you will participate in the team ✅ This is how I understand your needs Now you have communicated the values and culture of your environment without using words such as ”open”, ”value driven” and such.

🔥 Big industry news: Google wins copyright case over JobIndex in Denmark. In a world nothing is easy or a bed of roses, this is a great start & a plan! Villads Leth I loved the part where he says the pays were for #livelife well, if not today, then when? Who's serious in my network to do this? give a start? At #srilanka we could do these costs like in a 1/4 for a month with few more engineers i'm sure of that. (A person who've done can give realistic insights pls, 'cos i've not done it yet) A investment, and a great idea! shall do. I'm sure SL has TOP IT talent, and #remote can save you office costs in a world of #flex DM me at once, will you? I could invest in as well.
