Swedish buy-now, pay-later company Klarna have dropped another klanga, boasting that they have used AI to reduce their agency spend by 25%. In their press release, use of generative AI has helped Klarna to reduce total sales and marketing costs by 11% (in Q1 2024), and external agency spend by 25%, whilst running more campaigns and creating more marketing materials. How? They describe some of their initiatives; 1. Image generation (using Midjourney, DALL-E and Adobe Firefly) - saved them $1.5m in Q1 alone 2. Translation 3. CRM and social campaigns 4. Marketing copy: their AI tool, “Copy Assistant,” is being used for 80% of its copywriting Klarna received swift backlash in March for an announcement that their AI chatbot (which now handles two-thirds of all customer service chats) “is doing the equivalent work of 700 full-time agents”. This might have been fine, except they were laying off workers at the time. Hopefully Klarna will reinvest some of the savings to use AI in innovative and revenue generating ways, not just cost savings. Will AI take people’s jobs? I hope not. But I do think marketing and ad agencies need to move faster to embrace AI and educate their clients (and pass on the cost savings), as brands like Klarna are rapidly taking the lead themselves.

50% towards giving myself a completely separate sales stack totally decoupled (yup not just for developers) from my CEO inbox, something I should have done years ago to aid with focus and getting away from the constant hamster wheel of ‘priorities.’ So far: * Google Chrome for its multi-profile browser functionality  * Google Workspace for email * Pipedrive for scheduling calendar, CRM, proposals and sales reporting * Google Meet integrated with Pipedrive for meeting scheduling  * Loom for video messaging, explainer videos  * Canva for proposal design (then using Pipedrive’s Google Drive integration for proposals) * Zapier for moving data around (would entertain alternatives that are easier to configure, their AI setups stuff is duff) * Drift for webchats Chuck your ideas or recommendations at me before I’m too deep in to get back out! The biggest problem when implementing AI in sales teams, is that we’re still thinking AI first. Funny thing is, it’s just history repeating itself - remember when everyone wanted to build an app? And just like with apps, it’s not that building the app or implementing the AI is the challenge. It’s implementing it in such a way that it drives business value. For that, we need to stop thinking AI first. And we need to start: 📌 Think sales rep first How could I help my sales team to sell more effectively and efficiently? And could AI be part of the solution for that? 📌 Focus on data second Quality over quantity. Newer llm’s can generate great results with limited data input, but then you need to make sure your data is relevant and recent. Otherwise, you’re left with trash output. Tech hypes come and go - let’s just make sure we don’t keep on repeating the past.

Is Display the most underrated campaign type in Google Ads? At Nordic Sales Force, we have a retargeting Display Campaign running on Google Ads. We didn't disable all mobile apps, we didn't just select the 10 most attractive placements. We let the algorithm figure it out. We just chose the audience (website visitors). Getting +300k impressions for 4k DKK (600$) in 3 months is unlike any of the other advertising channels we use. Even if the real number is half, it's still a boat load of impressions for a very affordable prize. The campaign is not made to convert users here and now, its objective is to increase brand awareness (stay top of mind). So far, it's doing its job. For the experts: We are of coursing getting lots of placements on questionable placements like Wordfeud, but we also see a lot of clicks on popular news sites and forums. What do you think - is Google Display underrated?
