“The extraordinary Claus entered my life by what seemed like chance (though I don't believe in coincidences). About a year ago, my good friend Tammy sent me a link to the College of Extraordinary Experiences, saying, "This is so us. We have to go." I bookmarked it, but in typical fashion, I went down a rabbit hole and stumbled upon Claus. It just so happened I was in Copenhagen, where he’s based, so I sent him a connection request with a personalized note. He accepted right away, and we started chatting. Although we couldn’t meet in person, we connected digitally. Our first conversation was about getting to know each other’s “day jobs,” but it quickly became clear we both had a lot more beneath the surface. Claus struck me as someone who could understand the complexity of layered ideas and yet present them in a way that made sense—something I didn’t even realize I needed at the time. As our conversations continued, I decided to take the leap and hire him for coaching. What I got was everything I hoped for and more. Claus helped me streamline my work into a clear, digestible format, which allowed my "Human Connection as a Service" concept to grow. I reworked my offerings, and as a result, more business came my way. Claus is a masterful coach (and you can even experience his coaching for free on his podcast, which I also highly recommend). He’s not only incredibly kind but has a unique ability to see possibility where others might see limitations. The College of Extraordinary Experiences is a gathering of people from all walks of life, offering a hands-on learning experience like no other. If you're looking for a bit of magic and clarity in your life, Claus is the perfect guide to lead you into that world.”

Most Companies Today Are Only 80 per Cent Efficient. By Tomas Dalström Productivity growth has not been this low, for this long, since before the industrial revolution, over 250 years ago. #8. A Netflix survey published in The New York Times 2017 showed that 37 per cent of Americans watch TV at work, while a 2019 survey showed that 42 per cent of people in the UK watch TV at work (CordCutting.com 2022). Eighty-two per cent of people working remotely in the UK watch TV from home an average of two hours of the working day. (The Times, 2024.) Sixty per cent of remote workers say watching TV while working helps them concentrate. Thirty-five per cent of those who work in the office say the same thing (CordCutting.com, 2022). This claim is on par with the idea that the earth is flat. Research unequivocally shows that productivity decreases when we consciously try to achieve more than one thing simultaneously (also known as multitasking). https://lnkd.in/dm5fgnXw #HR #CEO #CFO #board #management #productivity #stress #health #brain

Mobbin just dropped probably the most valuable resource ever. 🔥 This collection of successful AB tests is a goldmine. ✨ Sure, not all ideas will work for your product, but there is a high chance they might. This is how the design can have a direct impact on your business. At Mimo, we took inspiration from the famous Blinkist free trial screen, and surprise, surprise, it worked like a charm. If you want to improve your product, you must constantly test and optimize. Sure, you can rely on your expertise, but an AB test can confirm if you are right or wrong. "Stray Kittens, Dungeons & Dragons" and Family Visits"??? Hi! And a special "shout out" to Ahmed Shams, Anders Tallvik Bernd Geels for contributing to an inspiring discussion in todays' 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤-𝐈𝐧 in our Creative Space Community. And here I realize that I should reach out more often to say this, as so far, ALL of our Friday Check-Ins have been so inspiring in every way. And this is only possible with OUR participation. What emerged in our usual flow of conversation today were questions like: "How do we know when we've found our (professional) path? And how to share our failure; to not be ashamed, but to grow and learn with it, and in the end realize that it was not failure, but a push in a better or different direction — especially when we are still open to learning, and learning out of our "failure". And this in turn brought up questions around the REFLECTIVE PROCESS and how do we reflect? How can professional coaching help us reflect? And how can we reflect in a way that creates growth, and how the big dips lead to growth. These are the topics, or SPARKS as we love to call them here in our Creative Space community that derived from our conversations at the start of our Check-In, which had nothing to do with failure, growth and owning our path. Our original topics were about fridges not working, "dungeon and dragons" evenings, finding stray kittens and and connecting with real people. How does this all fit together? And how do we always seem to make such sense out of a Friday Check-In? And on top of making sense, carrying it further into accountability and inspiring actions! You tell me! Join us and discover for yourself : ) Our Friday Check-Ins are like an AA meeting for self-employed. A safe space to be vulnerable, and open up about how we are and how our week went, what went well, and what we would like to have instead, learn or take into next week, or maybe something completely differently. And we take this a step further: whatever topics come out of a Friday Check-In and interest our community are used to co-create hands on solutions around being self-employment and business development. Check us out here and get invited to a Friday Check-In: https://lnkd.in/eSCVA9Gv Photo by Bansah Photography on Unsplash.

Today Aalto University's Radical Creativity launched a free-for-all online course on creativity and how to utilize it at work and everyday life. The panel discussion (not-so-radical form of exchange🤭) stated that creativity is often radical, it requires new perspectives to create new outcomes, but also structure to lead us somewhere. Everyone's creative, some of us even radical or provocative, but we have been taught to control our minds after early childhood. Language and the words we use are essential part of forming new ideas or surpressing them. To me Finnish language and culture are radical, we are an anomality on the European map, having our own way of thinking, connecting to our environment, being with people. Isn't it unique and radical, that a nation that requires minimum 2 meter safe space for everyone, squeezes in a tiny hot hut regularly with others, naked, and takes then a dip in the freezing snow, naked, swearing with some of those 5000 dirty words we have in our language! 😅 In my current job I can see, that as a secluded country and culture we have our own exceptional, even radical way of seeing&being in the world. It just needs to be liberated and harnessed to develop the society and economy. Jumankekka! 😄💪#radicalcreativity #aaltouniversity #marsio #eitculturecreativitynorth Riikka Mäkikoskela Tuomas Auvinen Tiina Toivola

It's "fairly" easy: You know how tempting it is every day to write an email like "I'm here eating a cheese danish - it's simple: you got butter, cheese, bread.. put them together and get this danish. Just like you can grow your business by following a recipe" But it's not that simple is it? Let's call it "fairly" simple. Meaning I *could* say - to grow your agency you need to leverage 3 main channels that will flood you with leads: 1. Cold Email 2. Cold Calling 3. Going to industry conferences And I could stop there with the advice. Because it's fairly simple to point you in that direction. But are you going to make calls? Are you going to go to an event? How many of us have been to an event in the last 6 months? I mean, *I have* because I don't teach theory and had to stress test all these lead gen methods.. But have you? When's the last time your guru made a cold call? Or hard pitched somebody who clearly didn't want it? Enough advice from people that haven't acted. Enough of this "I have a private jet so you should listen to me" BS Join the AB Mastermind and start taking action. We're here for accountability and to share what's really working as of right this second. Now, excuse me - I got a danish to enjoy. Talk soon, Alex P.S. Two members joined yesterday, so we're getting closer to closing out than ever before. Get in here.

Labor Market Returns to Vocational Secondary Education†https://lnkd.in/eZ9j4iXy By Mikko Silliman and Hanna Virtanen* We study labor market returns to vocational versus general second- ary education using a regression discontinuity design created by the centralized admissions process in Finland. Admission to the voca- tional track increases initial annual income, and this benefit persists at least through the mid-thirties, and present discount value cal- culations suggest that it is unlikely that life cycle returns will turn negative through retirement. Moreover, admission to the vocational track does not increase the likelihood of working in jobs at risk of replacement by automation or offshoring. Consistent with compar- ative advantage, we observe larger returns for people who express a preference for vocational education.

Your social media presence can make or break your job search. The traditional hiring model is shifting towards a more targeted approach, Matti Laukkarinen, researcher at the University of Jyväskylä, told me. “Organizations are no longer waiting around for candidates to apply to jobs. Instead, they’re proactively recruiting and headhunting talent online using social media platforms and predictive analytics.” The implications for jobseekers are profound: Your digital footprint and online activities can have a big effect on how attractive and visible you are to potential hiring managers. That’s why, when you’re searching for a new role, it’s important to strategically manage your presence on social media, Lisa Orbé-Austin, a psychologist and executive coach, told me. The objective is to “think like a social media manager and curate” a professional, engaging, and tailored profile that resonates with target employers. My latest for Harvard Business Review. https://lnkd.in/eRHyR_MD

This is not what I intended to post today. But I went to create a post and wanted to use this black and white photo. But I needed to edit it. Turns out I have my LinkedIn set to Swedish. But I really think that LinkedIn need to start using professional translators and not AI. Here is the problem: Redaktör. Yes, it means editor but in the sense that it is a profession belonging to a human being (pretty much like translator originally did 😁 ). For correct Swedish in this context, it should be Redigerare or even redigeringsverktyg. Ansök. Directly translated from Apply in the English version of LinkedIn. Yes, it does also mean ansök, but again, wrong context. Ansök means to apply to a job, position or education. Not to apply changes. The correct Swedish would be Ändra. And while we are at it. Could we please have a function for making bold and italics, just like you can when writing posts on Facebook? Thank you, LinkedIn! ________________________________ 👓 Louise, Online Business Support, Translator & Consultant. Thank you to AI Sweden and Martin Svensson for giving me the opportunity to be part of the exciting new talent program "Next Generation AI Business Leaders" this past spring/summer alongside my studies in Work-Integrated Learning at University West Also thanks to Johanna Bergman and Karin Vajta Engström for supporting me in this project and helping to refine the direction and focus of the report, an exceptionally challenging task when the topic "how will AI affect the future of work" is essentially limitless. Even further thanks to Raquel Broman (Sanchez) for openly welcoming me into being part of the AI Competence Strategy Forum which is such an important strategic area for all organisations going forwards. It was great working alongside all participants in this program Gabriel Glänte Madeleine Xia Jonas Fagerlund Michel Laji Gulzar Aghalar Elin Roslund Gustaf Zachrisson Sara Zetterström Hawat 🇵🇸 and I can say with full confidence these are definitely all future leaders to follow, the outputs of this short, part-time program have completely blown me away. If you want updates on the impacts of AI in healthcare, how to calculate ROI on productivity AI, and upcoming political implications be sure to sign up https://my.ai.se/ for an absolute treasure trove of a resource library. 4th REASON WHY PURPOSE IS IMPORTANT (6 more coming up) Let's continue with the wonderful list created by Bart Brasse - a very talented graphic designer and comics artist. Bart says: I always had some kind of goal to achieve but the moment I turned it into purpose it was much easier for me to come back to it everyday. But there are more reasons to have a purpose in life. Reason 4 of 10: One Direction. Once I realised I wanted to create comics, I stopped wasting time trying to develop other skills. It is all focused on one destination. _____________ Sounds interesting? Talk to me about finding your Purpose 🤝

Are you given the mandate to make bad decisions? Or only good ones? In my conversation with Mette Aagaard on The Experience Designers Podcast we explored what it means to truly share leadership with others. So often we delegate responsibility only to pull it back as soon as things go wrong or don’t match our preference. It’s a vicious cycle really, because it: ▶ Triggers demotivation ▶ Creates distrust between leaders, teams and colleagues ▶ Enforces (mutually) low expectations of people’s capacity ▶ Removes the opportunity for us to practice facing challenges and learning from mistakes Sharing leadership isn’t just about delegating tasks, but about sharing ownership - for better or worse. Tune into the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/dzZkPep8 or on your favourite platform. And as always, share your own observations and experiences - we’re always curious to hear ✨

Our CHRO Riitta Silvennoinen encourages us to be radical and take time to learn fundamentally new. All staff and faculty at Aalto University have the opportunity to take a basic online course on radical creativity, Diving into Radical Creativity, during their working hours. "As someone who manages personnel, I often face the dilemma of motivating people to allocate time for learning amidst numerous competing priorities and never-ending daily tasks. There is typically no directive to prioritize learning. This is why I encourage you to reserve time for acquiring new knowledge and skills. This investment will undoubtedly yield new insights and ideas", says Silvennoinen. According to Silvennoinen, the online course on radical creativity addresses topical themes for any supervisors, employees, and managers: the concept of creativity, diverse types of creativity, innovative working methods and team work, leadership for creativity, strategic risk-taking, and learning from uncertain experiments. Would your workplace also like to join over 60 organizations in offering skills development opportunities to their staff? Do you believe social media plays a role in leadership? 💡 This was the central question of my master’s thesis, co-authored with Carl Johan Dahlin in 2018. Since then, our paper has been cited in seven academic journals and downloaded nearly 2,000 times. Our thesis revealed that social media can influence leadership in key areas such as: ▪Expanding networks and connecting with key stakeholders. ▪Communicating vision and building company culture. ▪Motivating and managing teams through new channels. Since then, I’ve personally found LinkedIn valuable for reaching new audiences, sharing insights, connecting with people, and finding inspiration. 💬 Do you find value in social media from a professional or leadership perspective? #businessleadership #teambuilding #startupstories #leadershipdevelopment #startupfounders

Quantum technology can feel daunting and adoption always just out of reach. Since I got into the field however, I've learnt that what might look like magic is really just (very cool) engineering, and also that "Q-day" is happening now. If you're interested in skating to where the puck is going, then this is for you, whatever business you're in. If you're in the business of cyber security, especially as it intersects with finance and banking, then you *really* should sign up. (ping Åsa Odell Nordström, Anastasia Varava, Daniel Botella)

Taking a product from ones 🧠 brain and into ✨ physical reality✨ is a scary process. For Maneuvering Monday we are currently living that scary process, as the first wave of readers make their way through the manuscript from start to finish 😬. And then when one gets feedback as the below 👇, it gives me the courage to keep on betting on the things in my brain. There will also be 👎 negative feedback and a thousand errors that need to be corrected. But right now, I am savoring these words. Especially the compliment about comic relief 😁. #feedback #create #innovate #publishing

I’m so excited to be hosting a workshop on Outcome-driven UX Metrics at the UX Nordic Conference on August 28th. Organizations run on numbers. With meaningful metrics, your UX team can show its true value and contribution. Yet, it can be difficult to find measurements reflecting your best work, making mediocre work "good enough." Outcome-driven UX Metrics connect improvements in the user experience to increased value for the organization. With this radical new approach, UX teams measure how their work improves the lives of their customers, users, and employees. UX leaders like yourself can connect the dots of your team's efforts to critical business objectives like customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty. In this earth-shaking workshop, I will explore how UX leaders use Outcome-driven UX Metrics to vividly demonstrate their design's ROI to executives and senior stakeholders. You'll discover how you can use insightful UX metrics to hold the entire organization accountable to deliver better user experiences. Uncover how you'll… … Set your OKRs and KPIs with metrics that accurately reflect improvements to the user and customer experiences your organization delivers. … Align Agile's "definition of done" to how (and when) your product attains clear experience improvements in your users' lives. … Change how your organization views UX, moving from the "make it pretty" team to a strategic contributor of innovation and customer value.
