After almost 14 years of conflict, the Syrian people are now hoping to rebuild an inclusive and peaceful Syria. However, as a consequence of the conflict, the country is facing immense humanitarian needs. For this reason, the Novo Nordisk Foundation is supporting the continued presence and response of World Food Programme, World Health Organization and International Rescue Committee with DKK 60m to alleviate humanitarian needs and help Syrians recover. Since 2018, NNF has supported the needs of people living inside Syria, as well as Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries, with more than DKK 600m. Through more than 30 unique projects, NNF has supported both acute humanitarian needs and long-term development. Two of the largest humanitarian grants ever provided in NNF’s history have focused on enhancing access to education and developing job-related skills for young Syrian refugees living in Jordan. With many Syrians now returning home, Syria’s youth will play a crucial part in rebuilding their country.
