At COP29 Azerbaijan, a key focus for the NKT delegation is the expansion and development of the global power grid to support the green transition. Delivering on the 2030 renewables targets and beyond will not be possible without a global upscaling of grid infrastructure. We had the pleasure of discussing the issue at the roundtable “Mission Possible? A new approach to scaling grid investments at unprecedented pace” arranged by National Grid ESO, Hitachi Energy and Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks. "It is encouraging to see actions that enable policies and deliver tangible plans, fostering a coordinated approach and promoting bolder political leadership," says Michael Suhr, SVP and Head of Stakeholder Relations at NKT. "It is much appreciated to have the open and constructive discussion on adopting a new, more long-term approach to tenders, ensuring anticipatory investment and committed demand. This is surely needed to meet the new 'Green Power by 2030 Mission' set out by the UK Government. Leaving behind the old 'just-in-time delivery tenders' is much welcomed and necessary for the massive grid build-out that is planned." A big thank you to all the planners and debaters: Louise Clark-White, Glenn Barber, Louise Anderson, Huw Jones, Michael Hannibal, Joe Anis, Nicholas Mazzei, José Luis Blasco, Carl Heiremans, Charlotte Higgins, Emma Pinchbeck FEI, Albéric Mongrenier, Julie Taylor, M. For the third consecutive year, NKT is participating in the annual UN climate conference, COP. At COP29 Azerbaijan, the delegation focuses on the expansion and development of the global power grid to support the green transition. “COP29 is a good opportunity to connect with key stakeholders and address our concerns and suggestions for action. We address climate financing, grid investments, and the importance of large-scale interconnector projects, ensuring that the Global South benefits from and is included in the green transition,” says Michael Suhr, SVP and Head of Stakeholder Relations in NKT. “As we engage at COP29, the outcome is hard to predict but we are actively connecting, listening, and making our voices heard on important sustainability issues related to the life cycle of our solutions. NKT plays, through its product handprint, a critical role in society achieving net zero by latest 2050, and we are dedicated to driving an ambitious agenda,” says Anthony Abbotts, VP and Head of Sustainability in NKT. NKT is part of the official Denmark Pavilion organised by State of Green Denmark, Klima-, Energi- og Forsyningsministeriet, Udenrigsministeriet and DI - Dansk Industri. #WeConnectAGreenerWorld #COP29

We have released the financial results for Q3 2024 showing 25% organic growth and record quarterly operational EBITDA. The positive development was driven by all business lines. NKT CEO Claes Westerlind says: - In Q3 2024, we continued the execution of the high-voltage order backlog and the ongoing investments across seven of our production sites. This positively impacted the financial performance, where we delivered double-digit revenue growth for the eighth consecutive quarter and record-high quarterly operational EBITDA. We are constantly strengthening our market position, and as a pure-play power cable solutions provider, we are well-positioned to benefit from the robust demand driven by the #energy transition. In just 90 days, we have reached 200 meters, creating the second tallest tower in the Nordics! Watch the time-lapse video to see the exciting construction of our new extrusion tower at the Swedish #highvoltage factory in Karlskrona. The tower is part of the ongoing expansion of the factory, which will become the world’s largest facility for manufacturing high-voltage submarine #powercables. The height of the tower is crucial for the cooling of cable insulation, as the cables must hang vertically to ensure optimal cooling during production. With the recent steel-cutting milestone, we are one step closer to introducing the NKT Eleonora to our fleet. This next-generation cable-laying vessel is a key asset in executing our existing order backlog and supporting our customers in building the energy infrastructure for a sustainable future. Drawing on the experience from NKT Victoria and a century of cable installation expertise, NKT Eleonora is designed for accurate, safe, and reliable execution operating on methanol. Over the past 90 days, our team has worked day and night to complete the concrete slip forming for our new 200-meter extrusion tower in Karlskrona. Now the second tallest tower in the Nordics, it even surpasses Malmö’s Turning Torso! This milestone expands our high-voltage power cable factory—now set to become the world’s largest—and reinforces our commitment to meet growing market demand and drive the shift towards #renewableenergy. And there’s more! This tower is just part of NKT’s investment plan, which includes a new cable-laying vessel and around 500 new jobs in Karlskrona, Sweden by 2027. Swipe for some facts below about building the tower! #NKT #HVDC #Powercables

What a milestone! We have now begun the steel-cutting for our new, market-leading cable-laying vessel, NKT Eleonora. This major step was celebrated at the shipyard in Romania during a ceremony marking this landmark moment for NKT Eleonora, where actual construction begins and the detailed planning and extensive engineering design come to life. Once construction is complete, NKT Eleonora will represent the next generation of cable-laying vessels in terms of design and capabilities. Equipped with three turntables, she will offer a cable-laying capacity of 23,000 tonnes and host a wide range of subsea tooling for precise installation and servicing of offshore cables. Finally, she will be the first cable-laying #vessel capable of running on methanol. Thank you for the ongoing collaboration to VARD, Salt Ship Design AS and other suppliers. On the picture, Simona-Alina Puia, Senior Vice President and Director General at VARD Braila is celebrating with Vigeir Bunæs, Project Manager for NKT Eleonora at NKT. #powercables #offshore

NKT extends framework agreements with Réseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE). NKT will deliver around 1,400 km high-voltage power cable solutions to RTE to enable their long-term strategy to renew, adapt and develop France’s electricity grid. As one of Europe’s largest exporters of electricity, the upgrade of France’s grid is essential for the power supply of the continent. - We are excited to continue the long-term collaboration with RTE as they modernize and strengthen France’s power grid and support the transition to renewable energy. We have been working with RTE since 2011 and in 2023 we were awarded the Biscay Gulf Interconnector between Spain and France. With the acquisition of SolidAl we improved our geographic reach in new and existing markets. We look forward to building upon this success by supporting RTE and France’s grid upgrades in the coming years says NKT President and CEO Claes Westerlind. To grow the electric truck fleet across Europe, we need a better charging infrastructure to make the transition for companies easier. NKT was proud to be part of this project in the Swedish city of Karlstad, delivering 1 kV power cables to help connect eight charging stations for heavy vehicles. The charging stations allow 400 kW electric trucks to be charged in just one hour - to put that in context, a home charger for a typical EV has an 11 kW capacity. We look forward to helping connect similar projects to the grid in the coming years. Learn more about the project here: https://brnw.ch/21wOnot
