👋 “Hello, my name is Dace Viznere and I am the Sheep farm manager at Graudi farm in Latvia. My work is focused on managing the daily tasks on the farm, such as moving the sheep and making sure that they are healthy and thriving. During my studies for veterinarian qualification, I learned to appreciate farming and the countryside. After graduation I worked as a large animal vet, with a particular interest in sheep. Since sheep farming is not very developed in our country, I spent time on sheep farms in other European countries, mostly the UK. I am currently working on selecting our breeding flock of sheep, to get more resilient and productive animals.” 🐑💚 #Farming #Livestock #SheepFarming #OneIngleby #FarmingwithNature

🌍 A successful European Seminar hosted on our farms in Latvia 🌱 We brought together 35 participants from Lithuania, Latvia, Romania and Denmark for our annual European seminar. Despite the cold, the Latvian team created an engaging experience, including workshops on soil health indicators using defrosted soil in pallet tanks and insightful presentations on sheep production amidst the sheep themselves, roaming freely around the participants. The seminar featured comprehensive updates on country-specific progress, detailed reviews of field trials from the past year, and valuable workshops led by internal subject matter experts. Topics ranged from soil health and the soil food web to composting, strategic planning and enhancing farming skills. These sessions fostered a shared learning environment, bringing us closer to our goal of reducing synthetic inputs. The final days were devoted to sustainability, where participants collaboratively developed field plans to enhance natural habitats and biodiversity. The seminar concluded with an inspiring workshop on Ingleby's values and leveraging our top strengths for better farming practices and personal development. A heartfelt thanks to the Latvian team for organizing an interactive and productive seminar. It was a brilliant blend of learning and knowledge sharing. #InglebySeminar #RegenerativeFarming #Teamwork #KnowledgeSharing #AgricultureInnovation #FarmingExcellence #InglebyValues #AgricultureDevelopment #OneIngleby

🌱 Cultivating growth with compost tea trial in Lithuania 🌱 This year, we have begun a new trial at our organic farm in Lithuania: brewing compost tea to naturally boost our plants and crops. It focuses on enhancing their nutrient uptake, a vital aspect of the organic farming methods. We're trialling four different compost mixtures to determine which decomposes fastest and which types of microbes flourish. The mixtures include wheat straw and local green waste from our farmland, selected to complement the microorganisms already thriving in our soil and adapted to our harsh Baltic winters. We've constructed special compost containers from crates, fitted with vertical pipes to facilitate airflow. This design is crucial to maintain well-aerated compost, preventing it from becoming overly dense and moist. The crates' compact size allows us to create a concentrated compost extract, which will form the basis of our compost tea. This enables us to cultivate sufficient beneficial microbes for the entire farm using less material. We are continuously monitoring the containers, and as temperatures increase, we can confirm that the decomposition process progresses as planned. Our goal is for the compost to be fully decomposed by next summer, at which point it will be ready to enhance our plants with its rich, life-giving microbes. //Photos: our team mixing the compost materials during our soil health seminar, different compost containers and temperature measurement. #OrganicFarmingLT #SustainableAgriculture #CompostTeaExperiment #SoilMicrobes #FarmTech #EcoFarming #LithuaniaAgri #PlantNutrition #GrowWithUs #FarmingWithNature

🌍 Celebrating World Soil Day 🌍 Today, on World Soil Day, let's dig deep into the foundation of our ecosystems - the soil beneath our feet. Healthy soil is the foundation of our planet's biodiversity, playing a crucial role in growing the food we eat, purifying the water we drink, and even regulating the Earth's climate. The very ground we walk on is a living breathing community of organisms, working tirelessly to sustain life. This silent hero is often overlooked. We believe there is a correlation between fertile soil, healthy plants, and the quality of the grain, fruit or nut. That's why our farming practices focus on nurturing and building healthy, living soil. Let's take a moment to appreciate the ground that supports us all. Today, we pledge to protect and enrich our soils, because when the soil thrives, life thrives. 🌱 #WorldSoilDay #HealthySoilHealthyLife #SustainableFarming #SoilHealth #EarthStewardship #RegenerativeAgriculture #NurtureNature #GroundedGoodness #EcoAwareness #FarmingwithNature
