  • You know those times when there’s an unfortunate discrepancy between the real you and the ideal you? Our Joint Editor, Anne-Marie Hoeve, gets real about that gap in the run up to the holiday season. 🎁   "Every year, I imagine how the ideal, better-than-the-real-me version of myself will surprise everyone by handing out my own homemade gifts. I can already see their delighted smiles and bask in the warm glow of their “Ohh, did you make these yourself” response and then… I wimp out and end up buying all my presents. Sound familiar? We’ve got you covered this year with our list of 15 sustainable homemade holiday gifts. All you need is a little time and some simple supplies. So turn up your favorite holiday tunes, grab some tasty nibbles and give it a go. Not only are these fun to do, they’re also planet-friendly. I’m feeling hopeful, you too? (Check out the cinnamon stick candle-holder, it really doesn’t get easier). And if you’re really not into DIY presents, we have a list of other great green gift ideas." Get crafty with these fun homemade gifts at the link in the comments!

  • To close out 2024, we’re sharing some of our top-read articles. Enter: The inimitable Rainn Wilson. The importance of a high-profile celebrity talent using their platform to speak up on climate solutions makes a huge impact on audiences. Imagine5 sat down with Rainn, an Emmy-nominated actor, writer and director, to talk all things spirituality, Star Trek, and why hope is punk. Head to our comments for the link to the full interview.

Creator Partnerships have played an integral role in Imagine5's storytelling approach helping us start critical conversations, breakthrough cultural sectors, engage new audiences, and inspire meaningful action towards a planet friendly future. As the year comes to an end, I’d like to celebrate some of the incredible creator collabs we produced. 🎤 In collaboration with legendary musician #DavidByrne, we highlighted the power of positive storytelling to impact new audiences across music, entertainment, and pop culture. 👨👩👦 On #EarthDay, we teamed up with the hit web series #RecessTherapy to showcase the importance of talking to kids about climate change. 🍌 With award winning low-waste chef Max La Manna, we created a multimedia toolkit to help turn leftovers into delicious, waste-free meals—one of the simplest ways to cut our emissions at home. 🧘♀️ Partnering with creator-activist Lauren Bash, we launched 'Move, Nourish, Replenish', a three-part original series exploring the connection between wellness and environmental stewardship. 🌳 We explored the biodiversity crisis with Danish conservationist Alexander Holm and Professor of Sustainability Katherine Richardson. 👩🌾 To celebrate Rebels With Cause (a co-production with WaterBear Network), we collaborated with author and guerilla gardener #EllenMiles to produce a beginner’s guide to greening urban spaces. 🥬 In the second installment of our original series 'In the Kitchen With', James Beard Award-winning chef #SophiaRoe crafted braised cabbage with ginger, a gorgeous seasonal and sustainable plant-based recipe - Give it a try! 📰 Our monthly Good News Series spotlighted sustainability creators Michael Mezzatesta, Kristy Drutman, Meg Haywood Sullivan, and Jerome Foster II helping to share positive climate stories with the world. 🏃♀️ We kicked off #NYCClimateWeek with a guided nature run led by former elite marathoner and climate activist Tina Muir. 🥗 At NYC planet-forward restaurant abcV, Chef Neal Harden showed us how eating locally and seasonally is not only delicious and better for the planet, but helps build stronger connections with local farmers and our community. 🗺️ Sustainability creator Jacob Simon put our NYC Green Map to the test, visiting eco-friendly businesses across the city. 🦔 In collaboration with Kendall Long, we explored how animals can be unexpected climate heroes. 🌍 Activists and community leaders Wawa Gatheru, Evelynn Escobar, Catherine Chiang, Jessica Kleczka, and Kianna Pete spotlighted key environmental justice stories and intersectional themes. 🛍️ Danish conscious lifestyle creator Gittemarie Johansen shared tips for low-impact, stress-free gifting during the holidays. A special thanks to our incredible partners the entire Imagine5 team for bringing these collaborations to life. Can’t wait to share what next year has in store. #creatorpartnerships #creatoreconomy #climatestorytelling #sustainability

To close out 2024, we’re sharing some of our top-read articles of the year. Our 2024 magazine cover star, Viggo Mortensen, was one of our most popular. Earlier this year we spoke to Viggo, who is most known for his role in The Lord of the Rings, but most recently is the star and director of the tragic western romance The Dead Don’t Hurt. He infuses his lifelong love of nature and his habit of escaping into the woods into his work, and the subtle (and not-so-subtle) environmental message it shares has a positive impact, without being too preachy. “I’ve always liked being around plants and trees, I’ve always planted them, anywhere that I spend a little time in. The trees we plant, and the landscapes we nurture and protect for wildlife to enjoy and feel safe in, and to prevent soil erosion, is our gift to future generations.” Full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gu3H9WWT

  • Working with talented directors like Trisha Pickelhaupt truly makes our content shine ✨

As the year comes to a close soon, I’m reflecting back on January and this fantastic opportunity I had to direct and produce an interview with the legendary David Byrne on Positive Storytelling thanks to Imagine5 💛Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/eJqXvuHQ

  • We partnered with Max La Manna on creating a low-waste toolkit because he addresses cooking sustainably in an approachable and delicious way. There’s a need for more tangible resources for individuals, and Imagine5 toolkits are a way for individuals to easily take action - especially around the holidays, when there’s a lot of food waste. For this toolkit, we created original IP that people can use that’s also visually interesting, and the multi-media aspect makes it fun to use. See the slides for some bite-sized takeaways, and visit our website for the full toolkit.
