Inspiration
We liked the aesthetic of streaming themed games, and the Jackbox suite, including basic audience participation.
How we built it
We divided ourselves into our game controller, artist, frontend/backend and floating support.
For the tech stack, we used a beautiful combination of everyone's favourite game engine, Unity🎉 and a healthy sprinkle of Python Flask (and straight css/js) to build the game.
Challenges we ran into
We started off trying to have player UI (drawing) on 3DS consoles! But pivoted to Unity for mobile (Android/IOS) due to the long iteration time (long time to build), and lack of debugging tools (and as many errors would just crash the console).
What we learned
Alex: Webapps are actually really cool to work with, especially with API handling within unity, it was great to see it all come together at each major interval.
What's next for TakeOff
It'd only be right to continue beefing it up and playing it more and more.
