The legacy version of cloud-based maps styling is still available and you can still use your legacy map styles, but only if your project is eligible to opt out of the latest version. Google recommends you create any new map styles in the latest version, and update your legacy styles as soon as possible. For more information, see Update to the latest version.
Use the legacy map style editor
If you want to use the legacy map style editor, your project must be eligible to opt out of the latest version.
Verify opt-out eligibility
A project is eligible to opt out of the latest version until March 2025 if it meets one of the following conditions:
- The project has at least one legacy style.
- The project explicitly opted out before March 18, 2024.
- The project's organization was created before December 7, 2023.

To use the legacy style editor to create a style, see the following instructions:
Go to the Google Maps Platform, and select Map Styles.
Select Create Style.
In the dialog to create a new style, select Legacy styles to use the legacy style editor.
