2SP brewer Adam Peterson has kept 2SP in Aston close to its Delaware County roots.

2SP Brewing, an Aston brewery, has gone out of its way to be Delco’s brewery, writes Jeff Tomik for Philly Voice.

Brewer Adam Peterson has pushed collaborations and donations as a way to stay close to its Delaware County roots and connect to the communities 2SP serves.

You’ll find 2SP collaborating with Wawa on a coffee stout, releasing a new beer and donating part of its proceeds to a local charity, or even just naming its flagship beer the Delco Lager.

“We like to integrate ourselves with the area,” Peterson said. “We like … knowing we’re like the Delco brewery, even though there’s plenty other good ones out there.”

Peterson started in the brewing industry at Deer Creek Malthouse in Glen Mills, learning old-fashioned start-to-finish brewing techniques.

While 2SP Brewing, which opened in 2015, uses an automated brewing system, Peterson’s background helps him figure out which grains work best for different aging processes.

For the holidays, 2SP is offering a new sour– Misfit, dedicated to the Island of Misfit Toys in “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

“It tastes like prune juice or grape juice – kind of like a tawny port,” he said.
