Amy Adams and Scoot McNairy walked the red carpet ahead of the world premiere of their comedic thriller Nightbitch on Saturday at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The adaptation of Rachel Yoder’s acclaimed debut novel hails from Marielle Heller, the esteemed writer-director behind titles like A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Billed as a comedy for women and horror movie for men, Nightbitch tells the story of a stay-at-home mom (Adams) in the suburbs who slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and unmistakeable signs that she may be turning into a canine.
Also in attendance at Saturday’s premiere were Heller, Yoder and stars Adrienne Rose White, Archana Rajan and 4-year-old twins Arleigh and Emmett Snowden. Adams was in attendance with husband Darren Le Gallo and daughter Aviana, while McNairy walked the red carpet with actress girlfriend Sosie Bacon.
Searchlight Pictures came to acquire the worldwide rights to Nightbitch when Adams’ Bond Group and Megan Ellison’s Annapurna got the film rights to Yoder’s book and developed the script alongside Heller. Following a trailer drop earlier this week, chatter abounded online about the film, which sees six-time Oscar nominee Adams in a role and movie unlike any other.
Nightbitch is slated for a theatrical release Dec. 6.
