📢 The 8 AI Trends for Inclusive Climate Action 📢 Impact Hub Berlin just launched their Trend Report 2024: "AI for Inclusive Climate Action" – which underscores how Artificial Intelligence (AI), when developed ethically and responsibly, can accelerate the transition to a sustainable and inclusive future through impact entrepreneurship. The Trend Report 2024 project is funded as part of the Nachhaltig Wirken program by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus). 💡 8 Ai trends & best practices 1️⃣ Resilient Supply: AI can strengthen supply chain transparency and resilience, reducing risks and increasing accountability. Tools like Tacto, iComplai - Early Warning System for Food Supply Chain, and TrusTrace provide real-time monitoring and early warnings, preventing material shortages and promoting human rights. 2️⃣ Loops, Supercharged: AI can advance the circular economy by optimising recycling and material recovery processes. Innovations like Gainnext’s intelligent waste sorting systems help reduce waste and minimise the demand for raw materials. 3️⃣ Designing Carbon Out: AI, when powered by renewable energy and responsibly managed, drives CO₂ reduction and fosters regenerative solutions. Startups like CinSOIL use AI for soil-based carbon storage, promoting climate-friendly agricultural practices and emission reduction. 4️⃣ Climate Clarity: AI-powered climate simulations and risk models bring the climate crisis into sharper focus. Tools like ClimateGPT visualise local impact, helping decision-makers and communities understand risks and take action through accessible, data-driven insights. 5️⃣ Resource Protector: AI enables precise environmental monitoring, ensuring sustainable use of natural resources. SkoneLabs applies AI to reduce food waste, contributing to more responsible resource management. 6️⃣ Fairer A(I)ccess: To ensure the equitable distribution of AI benefits, tools like Climedo make healthcare innovations more inclusive. By using real-time data from electronic case reports, it accelerates clinical research, addressing disparities and improving outcomes for marginalized groups. 7️⃣ Power to the "Bauer": AI supports farmers with tools like Agcurate, which uses satellite imagery and AI to improve crop monitoring and decision-making. This not only enhances sustainability but also empowers rural communities with solutions for managing risks and increasing yields. 8️⃣ Queering AI: Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of this trend. Tools like all.txt promote inclusive communication by suggesting gender-sensitive language, raising awareness, and fostering representation across communities.   Find the link to download the report in the comments section.   #StartupBerlin #CityofImpact #CityofDiversity #CityofDeepTech

How to innovate the incorporation process in Berlin? 💡   Starting your own company in #Berlin can be a time-consuming bureaucratic process. That’s why Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Energie und Betriebe and Solution Hack organized a Hackathon to find solutions to exactly this problem.   🛠️ Challenges identified: 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐭𝐲: The process is overly complex and inefficient, characterised by time- consuming, disjointed steps, and inconsistent standards across institutions. The lack of clear guidance, compounded by language barriers and a complicated tax system, often necessitates costly advisory services, making it particularly challenging for non-German speakers. 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞: The lack of digitalisation and a centralised platform results in slow, inefficient processes, with poor data exchange between institutions causing redundant steps such as repeated registrations. 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 & 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: The incorporation process is burdened by high legal and notary costs that could be reduced with the use of contract generators or templates. Additionally, limited public access to necessary information and data further complicates the process.   ✅ Solutions suggested: 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: A centralised, streamlined digital platform 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: A fully digital, real-time data exchange system with a user-friendly, multilingual interface 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: Accessible, transparent information through open data initiatives and a centralised platform 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞: Reducing costs through online resources and financial support, streamlining bureaucratic processes by consolidating government functions, and providing one- stop physical service centres for comprehensive business- related support   Want to learn more about the suggested solutions and find out what‘s already being done? 🔗 Find the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/gkc8gGC6

Brand-new Talent Report just dropped: Despite the economic downturn, startups continue to serve as job engines 🚀   Startup-Verband just released their latest report on international talents as growth factor. They found that the shortage of skilled workers remains a key growth barrier for German startups and scaleups, despite the general economic recession:   · 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬 & 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐮𝐩𝐬 – Over 100,000 new jobs created in the last 4 years – that’s a 26% increase! · 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐤: 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 – For 60% of scaleups, the shortage of skilled talent is a major challenge. · 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐆𝐨 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 – Nearly 45% of employees come from abroad, and 75% of companies use English as their working language. · 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 – Complex and time-consuming visa procedures are a key obstacle and a competitive disadvantage in the global talent race.   The report’s conclusion: Given the demographic trends and global competition, we need to significantly attract more international talent to Germany in the coming years. This means simplifying immigration and visa processes and reducing complexity in the recognition of qualifications and degrees. Only by doing so can we future-proof our economy and pave the way for the next generation of global market leaders Made in Germany.   🔗 Find the full report in the comments (currently only available in German).

🚀 €30 billion annually! 💶 This is the amount that would need to be invested in German startups each year to match the investment rates seen in the US and the UK. However, Germany is currently far from these figures. Moreover, a significant portion of the venture capital being invested doesn’t come from Europe – raising concerns about the technological sovereignty of the region. 👉 So, what needs to change? This was the central question discussed last week at the IHK Berlin, where business angels, VC investors, representatives from the insurance and finance sectors, and Bundestag members Thomas Jarzombek and Max Mordhorst came together. Following an opening address by Paul Wolter, Chair of the IHK Startup Committee, Christoph J. Stresing delivered a powerful keynote, urging that startups be made a core focus of economic policy in the upcoming legislative period. With this call to action as the backdrop, Mirco Dragowski took the stage as moderator to guide the discussion. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀: - Boost early-stage funding: Without robust angel investment in the early stages, there can be no late-stage success. Anna Wanderwitz and Tobias Wittich emphasized the need for better conditions to support angel investors. - VC fund perspective: Katrin Robeck and Danijel Višević shared insights into the challenges and opportunities VC funds face in the current landscape. - Insurance and finance sector: Sandra Blösser from GDV highlighted that insurance companies are already investing in venture capital but tempered expectations for significantly greater engagement. Meanwhile, Christian Segal from Berliner Sparkasse pointed to credit financing as a viable option for startups in later stages. - Strengthen the entire startup ecosystem: There was unanimous agreement on the need to bolster the entire startup lifecycle – from founding to exit – by improving financing conditions for both early and late stages. - Promote financial literacy: Financial education was identified as a crucial lever to address the risk aversion of German savers in the long term. Fantastic speakers from both politics and business with such candid statements and bold demands! Special thanks also to the dicussion participants Anna Wanderwitz and Tobias Wittich, Katrin Robeck, Sandra Blösser, Danijel Višević and last but not least Christian Segal! Let’s keep the conversation going! 🙏
