Does the world pause today? I remember reading somewhere that we all have that one date where it feels like the world pauses. For me, it has always been the 15th of August. But does anything really stop on this day? Let's dive into this thought together. On this date, it’s business as usual for many. Planes still fly, trains still run, and workplaces hum with the usual buzz. But there's something unique about this day. It marks the midpoint of August, a subtle reminder that summer is gradually winding down. It’s also when many take a moment for reflection before the autumn rush kicks in. But what do we celebrate on this day? It is obviously a religious date, celebrating the Dormition (death) of Mother of God. A holiday with an extremely high importance for the Orthodox and Eastern Catholic churches.  In Italy Ferragosto is celebrated today and everything is still, even worse than the first day of Christmas (there is a saying in Eastern Europe that “even the grass stops growing”). With a tradition of over 2000 years, Ferragosto, initially celebrated on the 1st of August then moved to the 15th of August, was the first free day after more than 2 months of extremely intense work. Other countries, including India, South Korea, North Korea, Bahrain, the Republic of the Congo and Liechtenstein, are celebrating Independence Day today. Romania is also celebrating the day of their Navy Forces while in Poland it’s the Armed Forces Celebration today. Japan's surrender in the second World War is also celebrated on this day. Bottomline, while summer is at its peak and we have so many reasons to celebrate, it does feel like this is the turning point and we need to increase the pace from now on. #celebration #summer #15August

While GERMANY offers: • St. Nicholas Day treats—on 6th December, children leave out boots or shoes, waking to find them filled with chocolates, nuts or small gifts. • Magical Christmas markets—winding through stalls of twinkling lights, warm glühwein in hand, surrounded by the smell of roasted almonds and bratwurst. • Advent calendar countdown—every morning in December brings a small surprise behind tiny doors, making the wait for Christmas feel magical. • 24th December main celebrations—when families gather for dinner, light candles on their Christmas trees and open presents in an atmosphere of quiet joy. I've experienced both worlds first-hand, and let me tell you... • There are always more traditions to discover. • There are always more customs to understand. • There's always more cultural richness to explore. Over breakfast this morning, my son and I embarked on a critical mission: identifying companies violating the sacred Thanksgiving Day Treaty of 1923. For those unfamiliar with US history, the War on Christmas was once a bloody, unregulated affair. Before 1924, companies would leave Christmas decorations up all year round. Chaos ensued. Tensions reached a tipping point on the infamous night of December 6, 1922, known as the Krampus Kidnappings. In the aftermath, Santa himself intervened, brokering a historic treaty with Nathan Straus, then-CEO of Macy’s. The treaty, enacted in 1924, declared that no company shall advertise or decorate for Christmas until Santa made his grand appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Peace was restored. Well, mostly. But, as history often proves, peace is fleeting. In a covert operation, Roberto Nunez and John Wesley Hickey, legendary generals in the War for Christmas, devised a plan. They would unite their families (through Alfred Roy Carey and Patricia Hickey) to bring forth the 5th Horseman of the Christmas Apocalypse: Mariah Carey. And this year? Christmas: Beyond the Festivity and Celebrations Highways, streets and even homes are beginning to wear different looks, adorned with festive decorations, plannings/preparations for feasts, and joyful gatherings, as well as exchange of gifts - all because it is Christmas Time. Also, little dramas here and there would've been ongoing; ✓ Couple or Family pictures with the captions - Me & Mine saying La Merry la Christmas! ati bebelo (etc) ✓ Children are now being very expectant of their parents, the new body and foot wears, wristwatches, glasses, just name it. Knockouts would start rolling out! Even couples trying to plan things out, as fast as possible, for instance: Wife - Darling you can't imagine what I met at the market today! Hubby - What's that? Wife - Eeeh, this country is something else. Ororo is now gold o, very expensive, the cash I took along wasn't even enough to get it all I needed. (Soccer's fans would think she's talking of CR7 | Cristiano Ronaldo Denim t 😁😁. The Ororo here is- Groundnut oil) Hubby - (Sigh) All is well. Anyways we can do away with it. Wife - Do without it as how naw. Eh stop it jare! You know I like my chicken fried. Even Junior doesn't like boiled chicken in the meal Hubby - Me sef, I don't used to like it too, we'd have to like it like that! It's even more nutritious than to fry the whole nutrients! Wife - (with bombastic yet romantic eye) The Ororo is Sha #6800. So we should also give your guests boiled chicken/meat? Abi Daddy nutritious! (...To be continued 😆 😜) Compromise would take place Adapting to new change would also happen Basically, everyone hopes to have a happy Christmas celebration. However, its true essence lies beyond these celebrations. At its core, Christmas is a time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ, the embodiment of God's love and promise to humanity. The significance of Christmas extends far beyond external celebrations and materials gifts it is about the profound Spiritual truth that God became flesh to offer Hope, Peace, and indeed, Salvation to the world - Mankind. Another typical analogy in the instance of Wedding/Marriage. Sometimes, some may be overly engrossed or concerned with the former (the wedding - the 1 or day(s) celebration), to the extent of almost jeopardizing the latter (the marriage - lifetime journey) with the plannings, decisions et al. So also, we shouldn't just be religious with celebration, there by neglect or becoming lackadaisical about the real essence of the birth of Christ we're to celebrate. The birth of Jesus as the Savior, fulfilling prophecies from the Old Testament, being the divine redemptive plan for humanity, towards forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God. ✓ Are you very conscious of this personally! ✓ Is your household taking cognizance of the importance while they merry! ✓ Does it hold any meaning with your relatives/friends you'd be inviting for feasting, or it would just be a mere/casual get-together! #writing
