This highlights a key insight: effectiveness isn’t just about the capabilities of humans or AI—it’s about how well they complement each other. It reveals impressive findings and provides the strategies and recommended actions that OEMs and suppliers need to gain a competitive advantage. Considering the opportunities offered by the new technology along their entire value chain, they must create innovations with clear added value and develop both direct and indirect monetization of their AI offerings. Regarding this, it's also worth noting that established car manufacturers have a significant trust advantage over technology firms when it comes to AI. OECD report on AI in Germany   In June 2024, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) published a report on the status of the development and use of AI in Germany. The study analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the AI ecosystem. In its report, the OECD generally emphasizes Germany's good starting position. Potential for optimization is seen in access to data. It is particularly positive about the research landscape and the attraction it exerts on specialists and talent. According to the OECD, computing capacities in research are particularly good. Germany is also on the right track in terms of transfer to the economy and has set the right priorities. It attests to a good political strategy. The human-centered approach chosen in Germany sets global standards for the responsible use of AI. The report is based on quantitative and qualitative data as well as findings from the OECD AI Policy Observatory and the OECD Program on AI in Work, Innovation, Productivity and Skills (AI-WIPS) - an OECD research program funded by the German government - and is based on the results of interviews with a wide range of stakeholders in Germany. The Government Tomorrow Forum focusses on an aspect that I feel is clearly missing out in the current Responsible AI discussion. The EU AI Act is an important building block in a RAI strategy on the part of the public sector, but it is not enough to address the impact the AI era will have on society and the economy. Last night marked the highly anticipated Tesla „Robotaxi” event. Unfortunately, as expected, no significant new information was revealed. Here are my observations, which I also discussed with Handelsblatt's Thomas Jahn today (see first comment for link): - Elon Musk reiterated an autonomous future vision that has been presented by many others before. - Two new vehicles, Robotaxi and Robovan, were introduced, but specifics regarding timelines and technology were sparse. - For instance, it is unclear what technology will underpin Robotaxi; we can only assume it will involve FSD (Full Self-Driving). - No major advancements in FSD were reported. Tesla Models Y and 3 are set to receive unsupervised FSD in California and Texas by 2025, though details on exact locations, timing, and the extent of "unsupervised" remain vague. Regulatory approval also is still pending. - Robotaxi production is slated to begin “before 2027,” although Elon Musk acknowledged he is often too optimistic with deadlines. - Robovan is designed to accommodate up to 20 passengers, but how this aligns with Musk’s vision of comfortable and private mobility is unclear. Tesla stock has currently dropped by about 6.7%, indicating widespread disappointment with the event's disclosures. However, it is worth noting that Tesla's share price had increased approximately 45% from early April when the event was announced until yesterday.
