Seeing this pink shirt, my favorite color, become a bestseller means a lot to me. It’s not just a trend; it’s a sign of changing times. I always felt out of place in football due to its rough, traditional image. My style and body type didn't fit the old mold. I didn't join a club until my late teens. But things have changed. I now embrace my non-cliché masculinity with confidence. ⚽️ Today, I'm a successful football coach at a club that champions inclusion. ⚽️ The best player of the German National team is called Florian. ⚽️ Pink is no longer off-limits for men. Actually, pink is in Fashion like never before because the pink jersey is the fastest and best-selling away shirt in German football history! (Critics called it a 'Barbie' kit, claiming it lacked a 'German' identity.) This pink jersey is more than a trend; it’s a symbol of how easy you can evolve culture and diversity by just doing it. Sometimes, the most blatant, cliché gestures, like taking a "girlie" color for a men's national team, can shake up even the hardest minds so new ideas can blossom.

Curiosity is piqued! Thank you, IBM iX, and especially Tanja Waldeck and Antje Kruse-Schomaker! For the fruitful exchange, but especially for the excellent selection and moderation of the panel, all happening at Women in Tech series around the topic ‘Learning and Leading with AI’. Not only did I immediately try out the prompting tips the next day and discuss the possibilities of AI with my colleague, but I also feel the need to continue the conversations that were started. Where I would like to build further... • Learn from Prof. Dr. phil. Larissa Krex-Brinkmann about the approaches of Inner Leadership in the Bundeswehr. • Discuss with Brooke A. Gazdag, PhD, how we can concretely raise awareness of the differences & strengths of introverts and extroverts. And ensure that we do not fall victim to bias in evaluating success in relation to this dimension of diversity. • Talk with Meike Müller, about her experiences in self-managing organizations. • And ponder with Gunnar Lange when well-intentioned efforts in DE&I are truly well-executed. Happy Earth Day! Started it off right with an engaging startup-corporation partnership discussion as part of #SFClimateWeek. Being coincidentally located, I've packed my schedule to go to as many events as possible and will follow up with highlights. In the meantime, in celebration of Earth Day I wanted to share some recommendations of earth-friendlier changes we've made to our every day lives in case anyone's looking for some. ☕ To start, coffee. I'm not here to share its heartbreaking carbon story (efforts are being made to make this better though!), rather to recommend our pod-less single serving machine, the Tchibo. For laundry, we've been happy with TruEarth laundry strips to replace our liquid detergent and Blueland dissolvable tablets for hand soaps and household cleaners. The second, Lint Luv-R, is an inline filter you (easily!) install on the discharge line between the washing machine and drain. Depending on how much microfibers that are shed in your wash, the filter just needs a quick scrub after a few loads. I have to confess that I have been nervous: Standing on this massive stage in front of an 11k people audience and speaking to no one less than Mateo Price, Chief Strategy Officer of MrBeast. 🤯 What a beast of an experience… 😉 During our interview on the OMR Conference stage this Tuesday, Mateo shared fascinating insights on how AI is transforming their creative process. My biggest three take aways: 1. Mateo outlined their creative process, spanning ideation, design, production, editing and localisation. AI tools are already being utilized broadly! 2. AI’s biggest benefit is saving time: As MrBeast reinvests every single dollar back into new video production, their main constraint is time. AI tools enable  them to work faster and more efficiently. 3. Their favourite AI tool is Aloud, Youtube's dubbing feature, and multi-language-audio: MrBeast's content is already available in 15 languages around the globe. And now the best news of the week: Soon, there will be a 16th language available – GERMAN! 🎉 This is a perfect example of what I believe: AI will significantly enhance creativity. 💪 At YouTube, we're thrilled to see how top content creators like MrBeast experiment with AI tools. 🚀 HOW I MET THE TWO MOST INFLUENTIAL GERMANS AT Google: Philipp Schindler (Chief Business Officer) & Philipp Justus (Germany’s General Manager & Central Europe Lead) 🌟🌍 Who would have thought that I’d have the chance to meet Philipp Schindler, Google’s Chief Business Officer and one of the most influential German leaders at the company, alongside Philipp Justus, General Manager for Germany and the leader for Central Europe? What started as just another day turned into an unforgettable experience. Standing face-to-face with the two key figures responsible for shaping Google’s impact across Europe and beyond was something I didn’t expect, and their presence was nothing short of inspiring. In our conversation, their passion for pushing boundaries and embracing innovation was clear. It’s leaders like Philipp and Philip who remind me that no matter where you start, staying curious and thinking big can lead to incredible opportunities. "New German Space Act: The law provides for an authorisation requirement for space activities, i.e. all activities are initially prohibited. In future, only activities that have been previously authorised will be permitted. Authorisation requirements and new authorisation procedures are also to be defined. The (material) modification and (personal) transfer of a space activity will also require authorisation. There is to be a (new) authority within the remit of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection for authorisation and subsequent monitoring. The requirements will primarily affect NewSpace start-ups and SMEs. In terms of enforcement, the key points of the planned law state: ‘The authority may use the help of administrative assistants (such as the German Space Agency at DLR) to fulfil its tasks. The competent authority will involve all interested departments via bodies to be named by them, which will be specified in advance in a contact list, and will only approve the applications in agreement with those departments which, within one week of being involved, state that they wish to examine the application, giving a concrete explanation of how they are affected, and within a further three weeks declare their vote, stating the considerations suitable for justifying the subsequent administrative act.’ It is symptomatic which terms are mentioned how often in the key points: 6x authority 12x Authorisation 6x regulation 4x registration 4x monitoring 2x control" Emotionally loaded I have to resist the urge to comment before I cooled down again as this might have legal consequences. Ticking the box on #IFA2024. ✅ As the week is coming to an end, I’m recapping my first IFA Berlin. There are similarities with other international consumer tech conferences like #CES. It almost obviously has a different and more local touch for me though, being hosted in Germany's capital. 📍 During the six days of IFA, we showcased our superb product lineup and revealed some of the exciting projectors we have been working on at XGIMI Technology. 📽 The MoGo 3 Pro is one of them. I believe the newest addition to our portable projector series can be a game changer in the way people will enjoy media – anytime, anywhere. It’s an ‘everywhere screen’ as I would like to call it and a pleasure presenting this conveniently compact, versatile, and mostly fun projector to an international media audience. 📰 I’m leaving Berlin with vivid impressions, having had great conversations and making new interesting connections. A few observations I made: 1️⃣ Perspective matters. What you think of your product is not necessarily how your (potential) customers see it. 2️⃣ Education is key. Building awareness is crucial. Despite an increasing interest in smart projectors as the preferred home entertainment choice, they are still a niche. 3️⃣ Competition is fierce. And I mean this in a positive way. The pace of innovation is simply mind-boggling with Chinese and other Asian companies leading the way. 4️⃣ More is not always better. While tech specs remain hard performance indicators, our iconic design is undoubtedly what stands out and what helps to differentiate us from competitors. The conclusion? Stay focused. Keep pushing. Yesterday we had our ManagerinnenOWL summer party and a great talk by Christina Richter (hosted very well by our own Janina Ostendorf ) who spoke about visibility of women. It was really inspiring and the main things that stuck with me: 💪🏼 those who tell the stories have the power 🙋🏼‍♀️ we as women need to say “yes” to more opportunities without overthinking … men do it too 🧐 a post is worthless in terms of visibility without comments so support posts with real and good content with your comments (they don’t always have to be profound comments) 🐝 men have a whole swarm of bees working in the background not talking about their work and accomplishments. These bees (women) need to step out of the shadows and start sharing what they are doing. Did you guys know this? How do you handle your visibility? Today was my first time attending CHEFTREFF Gipfel in Hamburg, the largest event for talent, young leaders, and start-ups. 2 moments stay in my mind. Moment 1. The first stand I stumbled across belonged to Beiersdorf, leader company in #skincare. (You might be using their Nivea anti-aging creams.) Instinctively, my first remark was, "let's talk about your partnership with Rubedo Life Sciences!", which filled my mind and LinkedIn feed for 4 days now. Unfortunately, none of the representatives heard about the strategic partnership, and the term #longevity only vaguely rang a bell. How long until this stops being the case? Is there a parallel universe in which I have to explain what anti-aging creams are, instead of what senotherapeutics are? Moment 2. In a small room called the Impact Forum, a fusion company COO structured his pitch around encouragements, rather than strict numbers and proofs. "Work on exciting problems that can change the way we live! Be at the cusp of innovation! So -- join us to work on #fusion, and other such fields!" Do the spaces of longevity and fusion overlap here, seeking #funding and #talent and motivated auditoriums? *** Last but not least, many thanks to the amazing baby vc team! 🌱 Sustainability in Hamburg: From Reporting to Strategy! 🎯 Last week, I had the honor of participating in the event “Vom Bericht zur Strategie - Wo steht Hamburg in Sachen Nachhaltigkeit?” organized by the Stiftung Zukunftsrat Hamburg E.V. and Nachhaltigkeitsforum Hamburg and moderated by Anke Dr. Butscher from corsus - corporate sustainability GmbH. The event featured an interactive exchange with the audience, where we dived into key questions around the overarching topic. Priscilla Owosekun-Wilms, Head of Sustainability for Hamburg, provided insights into the current status and future plans of the city. Following this, we engaged in a panel discussion with esteemed guests, including our Finance Senator Andreas Dressel, as well as Helena Peltonen-Gassmann and Kai Hünemörder on critical topics such as: 1) The current state of Hamburg’s sustainability goals. 2) Key components of an ambitious sustainability strategy. 3) The costs of sustainability versus non-sustainability and how to balance conflicting goals. 4) Strategies for transforming Hamburg’s administration toward sustainability. 5) How to effectively involve academia and civil society in these processes. 6) Creating binding commitments for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. 7) Mechanims to move toward a more impact-oriented steering. I’m looking forward to the next steps, especially involving Universität Hamburg researchers in the strategy development process! 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗵𝗼𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻? Then click "see more" to read this. The first workshop on the future of Tempelhofer Feld took place 10 days ago. The event was well-organized, starting with an insightful tour led by Caroline Freisfeld of Tempelhof Projekt GmbH, and attended by key actors of the field. I have to commend nexus - Institut für Kooperationsmanagement u. interdisziplinäre Forschung for their thorough organization, including providing English translations for international participants. So, is this consultation process adequate? Unfortunately, no. As I mentioned in a previous post, the way the questions are framed pushes us towards one direction: construction (Bebauung) on the field. There is no clear path to contest this idea. This naturally created tension and frustration around the stakes of this public consultation. A key statement from the Berlin Senate set the tone: “𝘈 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘮 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘥 10 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰 – 𝘸𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴. 𝘛𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘬’𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴, 𝘸𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴: 1. 𝘈 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘮. 2. Technically, yes. But the broader impact of such a move could deepen mistrust in a democracy already under pressure. • Is 10 years enough to reconsider such a decision? It’s far from being a generation. • Are we shifting from long-term, sustainable planning to short-term gains, at the cost of the quality of life for current citizens and future generations? Many participants are left questioning whether to cooperate and risk their ideas being misused, step aside and let others take the lead, or find ways to push back while keeping their concerns heard. It feels like we’re caught in a trap, and the process seems limiting. Almost every group present expressed the desire for “Keine Bebauung” (No construction). I understand the urgent need for housing in Berlin, especially as an international who initially struggled to settle here. But what has been done since 2014? The issue was clear back then, and poor planning has led us to this point. Should Tempelhofer Feld pay the price for this failure? I don’t believe it should, especially when you weigh the long-term advantages against the disadvantages. I’m looking forward to seeing how this weekend’s workshops will unfold and will keep you updated as always. There are less than 3 months to go until the Analytics Summit in Hamburg hosted by TRKKN in partnership with Google takes place again! Last year was the first time for me - it was super exciting for me to see everything that goes on behind the scenes from an internal TRKKN employee perspective, as well as being able to listen to the exciting presentations. Even though Toni Kroos dominated on his position already back then, former Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Kroos: "𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 €10 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝-𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫." In today's world, there's a growing trend among athletes that often severs the vital connections between humans, nature, and our inner selves. Cycling has become more about numbers, kilometers, and digital displays. This constant distraction is gradually detaching us from our environment, from real life. At its core, adventure should be about being present in the moment. True adventure is experienced when we are fully aware of our surroundings, free from distractions. But how can we encourage people to reconnect with these authentic experiences? 📵 Imagine this: You, your bike, a starting point, and a destination. No smartphone. No tracker. No GPS.
