We can react quickly and flexibly to changing conditions while maintaining complete transparency,” said Michael Scholl, Director Supply Chain at Opel, at the award ceremony in Leipzig.
... “This innovative solution is further proof for our `change your mind´ approach at Opel and our willingness to change the corporate culture. We changed organizational structures and, thanks to a cross-divisional team, introduced a system that allows outstanding flexibility – for the benefit of our customers,” said Katherine Worthen, Vice President, Purchasing and Supply Chain, Opel Group GmbH.
The system was developed by a cross-divisional Opel team, consisting of experts from logistics, materials management, order management, and IT in cooperation with IT service provider Flexis AG from Stuttgart. It enables a future period preview of 40 weeks and considers roughly 45,000 part numbers for 20 Opel models made in seven European production plants.

What’s next for software-defined vehicles? What will modern architectures - often referred to as operating systems - look like? And how is KPIT positioning itself in Europe - and globally - to remain a key partner in this area for car companies? Together with KPIT’s co-founder and CEO, Kishor Patil, I talked to Automobil-Elektronik (all-electronics.de) about our strategy, our growth ambitions and how we help mobility companies develop architectures for software-defined vehicles faster and with greater flexibility. When I joined KPIT last year, I did so because I was impressed by the company’s ability to think ahead of the industry curve. That’s only possible when you are 100 percent industry-focused as we are. KPIT is not only providing specialized automotive software solutions. Rolls-Royce and FFG Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft, with the support of transmission specialist ZF, are jointly developing a concept for the long-term and economical repowering of the Wisent 1 support vehicle and all variants of the Leopard 1 family. The plan is to replace the existing mtu MB838 engine, which is no longer in production, with a more modern mtu 8V199 engine. This project, which both companies presented at the RÜ.NET user forum in Koblenz, offers the opportunity to modernise the vehicles in line with current requirements, while at the same time improving their performance. The Leopard 1 main battle tank, which dates back to the 1960s, and special vehicles based on it, such as the BPz2 armoured recovery vehicle, the Biber armoured bridge-laying vehicle, the Dachs armoured engineer vehicle and the Gepard, are still in reliable service with user states in large numbers today. The Wisent 1 support vehicle developed by FFG is the latest Leopard 1 variant to benefit from this upgrade. The German Bundeswehr also still has special variants in service. Replacing the Leopard 1 fleets with more modern vehicles is not financially viable for many armies, which is why there is a need to preserve them for long-term use. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/gsD7NfRR

ZF’s Dr. Reinhard Ernst joined the automotiveIT industry talk at IAA TRANSPORTATION to discuss solutions for virtual validation challenges of #AutonomousDriving functions. 🎤 👉 At the "automotiveIT Salon #3 Autonomous Driving – Virtual Validation and AI Integration” Ernst discussed with Andreas Lauringer Ramzi Yakoubi, Prof. Dr. Joachim G. Taiber and Gilles Gallee how to tackle these challenges and what role AI can play in this. ❗ With ZF Annotate, the Group recently launched a state-of-the-art, AI-supported validation solution for testing and training of modern ADAS/AD systems - for both passenger cars or trucks.
