Are you looking for a job with relocation? This one mistake can cost an interview: You forgot to mention in the CV that you are open to relocation. Let me tell you why this is important. Let's say there's a process for a Unity Developer in Berlin. The ad clearly states that it's Berlin, and the work is hybrid. You apply, and there's info you're from another country. There's no information that you are ready to relocate. And there are 20-30 other applicants. (If we're talking small numbers). Possible outcomes: 1) The recruiter contacts you to ask if you want to relocate. If your profile seems like a match, it's likely to happen. If it's 50/50 and they have other people in the pipeline, they might move on to the other ones first, find someone local or with proper info, and simply not return. 2) The recruiter assumes you haven't read the ad and just auto-rejects. Neither is great for you, honestly. So, just be precise. If you're open to relocation, mention it in the CV. As always - don't leave room for assumption. You got this 💪

Since I have been teaching the foundations of Unreal in Hungarian (unrealkurzus.hu) for almost 1,5 years now, I tend to get the following question a lot: "What are the most essential skills and softwares to use for creating environments in Unreal?" Artists soon realize that making environments only using Unreal might not be enough. One of the latest models I prepared for the Beyond Skyrim: Valenwood 🙂 It was a very interesting experience that helped me understand the process of carving bones, as well as the general process of creating models for Skyrim.

[ENG] The Second Project [in Ukrainian the next post] Hello! Today I'm going to tell you about my second project on behalf of my studio. This video was for the OKClinic clinic in Chernihiv. I'll start with some technical details - for the first time I was provided with a video in perfect quality, recorded on a BlackMagic camera (I didn't ask for the model) in 6K .raw format. The colors, smoothness, quality - it's a pleasure to work with this) (Yes, I'm a BlackMagic fan, no judgment) Now to the most important thing. I felt what I had been trying to achieve for so long - the realization that my level had grown significantly for myself. Let me explain in more detail: I had a problem that spoiled my enjoyment of work - perfectionism. If someone thinks that this is not a problem, you are wrong) Perfectionism eats away at you as a professional, it destroys your ability to improve. No one will be better off if you spend 3 days modeling a conventional cup that will be in the shot for 3 seconds. And in general, it gives a destructive feeling of stagnation, because instead of practicing something and really getting better, you have an insufficient set of skills and try to convert the time spent into quality. I struggled with it for a long time, even to the point of having notes stuck all over my desk reminding me to “stop overdoing it.” The experience of sculpting for 3D printing was also a good practice (you can find these works on my page), where I had to make 1 model per day(!), so there was no time for perfectionism. But these were circumstances, not a clear understanding. But on this project, I realized that I finally got rid of this flaw (at least I want to believe so). Instead of mindlessly throwing in sleepless nights trying to make the perfect shot by hand and not miss the deadline, I analyzed the future scene, paid attention to how far the model would be from the viewer, how many seconds she would be in the frame, how much she would focus on herself. And I just went through the options, choosing the most optimal one - I downloaded a free model that has full freedom of use under copyright, found photos of dragonflies and made a “photo-bash” texture from them, customized the materials, made a primitive rig, and the magic finally happened - I had a ready-made model that was perfect for the project, made in 3(!) hours. So, this project gave me a lot and I am sincerely grateful for it!
