🌟 Exciting Times for Startups in Cairo! 🌟 Cairo has been buzzing with startup-related events recently. On May 10-11, the “Startups Without Borders Summit” brought together 3,000 participants from over 30 countries. Following that, from May 16-18, the “Riseup Summit,” one of the largest startup support events in the Middle East and Africa, featured over 250 speakers and 150+ startups. Both events offered sessions on global technology and investment trends, as well as practical advice from experienced entrepreneurs. A key focus was on Egypt’s ecosystem and its connections with the Middle East and Africa. At the Riseup Summit, a panel discussed Egypt’s role in linking Africa with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The conversation highlighted a shift where Egyptian startups, traditionally focused on the Gulf, are now increasingly targeting sub-Saharan Africa. At the Startups Without Borders Summit, Sadaharu Saiki from Sunny Side Venture Partners noted that international investors are now eyeing North Africa, especially Egypt, for its higher purchasing power, advanced infrastructure, and strong ties with Gulf countries. The Egyptian government is also actively supporting entrepreneurship. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and other key ministers attended the Riseup Summit, while Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat participated in the Startups Without Borders Summit. Madbouly emphasized the government’s support policies, including the establishment of a specialized entrepreneurship unit under GAFI and the reorganization of the government-led investment platform Egypt Ventures.
