The findings suggest the potential to outperform Merck’s Keytruda in this challenging cancer type. Key Trial Results: The single-arm study evaluated BNT327 in combination with nab-paclitaxel as a first-line therapy for TNBC. Notable outcomes include: Overall Survival (OS) Rates: 80.8% at 12 months, 78.1% at 15 months, and 69.7% at 18 months. Cross-Trial Comparison: The 18-month OS of 69.7% substantially exceeds the 47.8% reported for Keytruda in the KEYNOTE-355 trial for a comparable patient population. Median OS for BNT327 has yet to be reached, with the current analysis reflecting a median follow-up of 19.5 months. This represents a significant advantage over Keytruda's median OS of 17.2 months in the KEYNOTE-355 study. Path to Registration: BioNTech is now preparing for a global Phase 3 trial of BNT327 in first-line TNBC, set to begin in 2025. This study aims to solidify the position of BNT327 as a promising option for patients with limited treatment alternatives. These results add to growing evidence supporting the potential of PD-(L)1xVEGF-A bispecifics in oncology, particularly in broadening access to effective immunotherapy options in TNBC. Reinhardt et al. 🔗 Full article: https://lnkd.in/g_fyUzy7 This exploratory study aimed to screen free-ranging raccoons in Baden-Wuerttemberg (BW, Germany) for the occurrence of selected pathogens with One Health relevance. Organ tissue and blood samples collected from 102 animals, obtained by hunters in 2019 and 2020, were subsequently analysed for two bacterial and four viral pathogens using a qPCR approach. Single samples were positive for the carnivore protoparvovirus-1 (7.8%, n = 8), canine distemper virus (6.9%, n = 7), pathogenic Leptospira spp. (3.9%, n = 4) and Anaplasma phagocytophilum (15.7%, n = 16). West Nile virus and influenza A virus were not detected. Due to their invasive behaviour and synanthropic habit, raccoons may increase the risk of infections for wildlife, domestic animals, zoo animals and humans by acting as a link between them. Roche has shared positive phase 3 results for its Columvi (glofitamab) in combination with chemotherapy in patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).   The STARGLO trial has been evaluating Columvi against rituximab, both in combination with gemcitabine plus oxaliplatin (GemOX), in DLBCL patients who have received at least one prior line of therapy and are not candidates for autologous stem cell transplant, or who have received two or more prior lines of therapy.   Affecting approximately 160,000 people worldwide every year, DLBCL is the most common form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.   According to Roche, around 40% of people living with the condition will relapse or have refractory disease, at which time salvage therapy options are limited and survival is short.   The trial met its primary endpoint of overall survival (OS) after demonstrating that patients treated with Columvi plus GemOx lived significantly longer, showing a 41% reduction in the risk of death compared to rituximab in combination with GemOx, with the safety of the combination being consistent with the safety profiles of the individual medicines.   The Columvi combination also met its key secondary endpoint of progression-free survival (PFS), with a 63% reduction in risk of disease worsening or death versus rituximab plus GemOx.   In a follow-up analysis, the Columvi combination showed continued benefit in both primary and secondary endpoints, with a median OS of 25.5 months and 58.5% of patients experiencing complete response (CR), compared to 12.9 months and 25.3% in the rituximab combination group, respectively. June's #Awareness #Month is all about the #cytomegalovirus, #CMV. A widespread virus, little recognised and yet highly dangerous for the unborn child and people with a weakened immune system. #Focus #Pregnancy: About half of all pregnant women have no IgG antibodies against CMV. This is a rising trend and a risk, that many expectant mothers are not aware of. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), around one in 200 babies born with CMV, and one in five of them suffers permanent damage to their health.
